I wish they had not shutdown the Headphone and DAC business as it was special too. But that is the way it goes. BlueRay Players I get it. Still I will miss what Oppo was/is.

Seems odd to just bail rather than make some attempt to sell to another party? Perhaps some backdoor deal has taken place they prefer not to speak of.

Actually not really. Sony I am sure misses them too. When you have a benchmark to chase after your game better be the "A" one. Sony is a huge corporation, and is never going to work like Oppo did. You will never see a 203 or 205 from Sony. Sony ES does not even have that kind of audience. You can bet Sony is still changing gears since Oppo's Farewell. Everyone is just a little bit less when someone leaves the industry especially if they were as influential as Oppo was. I know I still remember my 103 player I should have never sold but with my 4K UHD Sony and Denon Univeral player, the 103 had to find a new happy home which it did. Still Oppo will not be forgotten for its great products and loyalty it created with its customers. Sony can Envy that. |
