What are some of your favorite all-time titles that are/were available on SACD? What makes it special for you?

Not SACD, but DVD-A, are the 2 Grateful Dead remixings of American Beauty and Workingman's Dead. These weren't just remastered, they were totally remixed. Remixed to sound as if you were there in the recording studio, live. First time I heard them they blew me away. I even made regular CD'S of them so I could use them elsewhere, like in my car.
SACD, um, I dunno. Maybe the Rolling Stones stuff I have. Really opens up the sound and makes the recordings come alive.

Brothers in Arms, the SACD version is easily the best and I have all of the other versions to compare. DSOM is also top shelf, yes even better than the quadraphonic vinyl version.
Cheers Gary

Billy Joel - The Stranger (multi-channel SACD) Billy Joel - 52nd Street (multi-channel SACD) Donald Fagen - The Nightfly (DVD-A)
I would also agree with Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here and Dark Side of the Moon (Blu-ray Audio)

Riveting performance of "Short Ride in a Fast Machine" for which I was privileged to be present. Wide, wrap-around sound in 2.0. My favorite Mingus album and a great sounding SACD. Frightening performance and a potentially speaker wrecking recording. I'm not exaggerating - the bass drum and timpani parts.... geez. The best orchestral recording I've ever owned. Warm and atmospheric. So clear. Tony Williams' drumming makes the album for me. I'm surprised during every listen that this was recorded in the 1960's. Incredibly emotional performances of this work with extreme dynamic range. One of his best. One of my favorite SACDs from Analogue Productions

Cheers Gary I would second both of those and add Wish You Were Here. I agree with those, I also like the DSOM Quadrophonic version (not vinyl, the one Alan Parsons did), Would also add: Laurence Juber: Guiter Noir (DVD-A) Frederick Fennell - The Cleveland Symphonic Winds (Telearc, Holst, Hande, and others) SACD - I've owned every hard copy version of this, Casino Royale, Burt Bacharach - DVD-A [HDAD 24/96, 24/192] (If Dusty Springfield singing "The Look of Love" doesn't make you melt off your seat, you have no heart).

Shelby Lynn's Just a Little Lovin sacd hurts because her voice is so purely recorded.
Norah Jones' Come Away with Me is also stunning.
I agree about Wish You Were Here and the other rock titles mentioned, they sound smooth and easy.
And I can't forget What's Going On by Marvin Gaye.

Nickel Creek's self-titled album. I bought it from Amazon in 2003 and the version that arrived was the SACD. At the time, I didn't have an SACD player and wasn't familiar with what SACD was. Much later, when I bought my Oppo 83, this was the first disc I played and I was stunned; talk about being present at a home concert.

... The best orchestral recording I've ever owned. ... I followed your advise and bought this SACD. I listened over the weekend and this is definitely an expressive recording with high audio and musical quality. So, thanks for the tip!
