Edit: Updated pics showing Reality Creation upscaling 1080Just replaced my Sony VPL-350es with the 675. Will have a pro calibrate it in a few weeks when he is available. This was just some basic settings done by eye and I know there's a lot more to be had with a proper calibration. www.sony.com/electronics/projector/vpl-vw675es/specificationsSetup is easy and the lens shift allows you a LOT of wiggle room for obscure mounting options. Vertical: +85% -80% Horizontal: +/-31% Menu is also very intuitive and easy to navigate. The advanced settings are marked accordingly and you can really go crazy with gamma etc options. What impressed me most about this unit was the step up to HDR as well as the higher contrast. This one is 350,000:1 with 1800 lumens and only 26dB fan noise. With an open mounted box behind the 2nd row of seats, I could not hear the fan, even during quiet spots. It is also a 3d projector although I will not be using that feature, at least for now. I have yet to sample Sony Reality Creation to see it's ability to upscale DVD and Blu Ray but given the great ability of the earlier 350 model, I expect great things. Wish I had better shots than with my cell phone; they don't do it justice. These were taken at 15' away and the screen is 160" with 19' of throw to the projector. Scott Image sensors blurred this shot but the image is exceptionally sharp even from 2' away The blacks were BLACK and you can not discern screen blacks from the surrounding wall Took this shot from 12' away. Brilliant colors

Oh hell, I didn't notice the price on the page and posted it for a complete list of specs/details. I got mine as a dealer demo anyway with 37 hours on it and full factory warranty for nearly 50% off. No way in hell I'd pay for a new projector with prices coming down what seems like weekly. I'm just stoked about the picture quality. It's approaching what "backlit" TVs have to offer. I'm going to try and get better pics. Just damn... colors are brilliant and natural and the contrast is leaps ahead of the entry level 4K model. Very cool to see the perpetual advancement of tech. I’m glad you are enjoying it. It’s a great projector. I am using the 885ES and I think I am just in love with the laser light source. There is just something about it that makes it different than a lamp based system.
Happy projecting!!!

There is just something about it that makes it different than a lamp based system. Happy projecting!!! Awesome projector! I'd like to do a shootout between the 2. The laser holds a more consistent brightness for sure but given the huge premium, I'm guessing they add more than just the laser. I've long been impressed by Sony's ability in the projection department. JVC is also excellent for black levels/contrast. I think bang for the buck award still goes to Panasonic PT series. I'm normally awful with posting reviews and it's my goal to do a better job. I know I greatly enjoy reading others reviews as they help me make a more informed purchase. Or just to satiate my curiosity. Wanted to follow up with my earlier post above regarding Sony's Reality Creation and it's ability to upscale 1080 images. I was very impressed with the continuity of contrast and color depth. I wasn't sure if any of that would be lost in the transition. It's hard to tell with some movies that it wasn't shot in 4K. That is an impressive benchmark considering the screen is 160" with a viewing distance of 14' row 1 and 20' row 2 Shadow detail is very clear with no blurring or pixelation as well as the bright tones. Highlights like sky scenes or sunrise are smooth and realistic. The previous 350ES projector had limitations when upscaling and it makes sense given the difference in price point that this one has better internals. I say "internals" because the details are above my paygrade and I am just reporting the visual results. Scott Blu Ray upscaled: Bear in mind these are mediocre cell phone pics
