Hey guys. So basically I'm having a house built and I'm putting a nice system together to compliment it. Leaning toward an A-300 pushing Maggie MMGs. Anyway, I'm looking at putting some chairs and a coffee table where the dining area would be for listening to records and hanging out. I'm linking the floorplan below, my question is which wall I should place the HiFi in the "dining area". I realize none of it is ideal but which wall would make it sound least horrible? www.adamshomes.com/locations/florida/navarre/2380.jpg

If your dining room is not going to be walled in ( it appears to be open concept yo the family room) I would put the speakers on the family room wall ( the one with the master bathroom on the other side of the wall)

The wall adjacent to the laundry room would be my guess, but try moving it around and see what works. Sound's nature is unpredictable.

If it was my house, I'd go with a (click) www.magnepan.com/model_mini_maggie (click) by the laundry room wall. You don't have the space for Maggie floor standers in that area,IMHO. Just my $.02

None of the area is that great for placing a stereo system. If you aren't tied to having it in the main area I would put it in Bedroom #3 or #4.
Otherwise I would put them on the long wall the backs up to the bathrooms and closets on the left side of the house. This is the natural place where chairs would sit across from. Just my opinion though.

I'd give GIK Acoustics a call and ask their opinion, but that's just how I would approach it. I like the idea of considering either bedroom #3 or #4 as an alternative!

Thanks for the wisdom guys. Those mini Maggies are tempting but damn that's .7 money for desk speakers. I wish I had been into this stuff when we we're picking out floor plans! I'm torn between acoustics and a nice spot in the open to lounge and listen to records. Can't win.

The Lanai is also another option. Who even uses them anymore. They become unused parts of the house. Since the house is being built, you can still change the plan and leave it unfinished if you have to then finish the room yourself.

You will use the lanai in Florida. That’s where Adams homes is. I’m guessing ocala area, lots of mosquitoes in some places if so. I have a horrible room but after setting up a xmc1 it’s still pretty awesome. Have speaker wire run to rca wall jacks. Adams normally builds shelves on top of wall in the living room. Electronics go nicely there. You will make a lot of compromises in a main living area but you can always toss another zone up elsewhere.
