I loved that interview!! ...Had never heard of Legacey Audio before and have probably watched 3-4 times since it was posted. If I'd just seen them in a magazine, I'd have thought they were just another esoteric snobbery outfit... how refreshing it is to see the super-high-end being so humble and applying some real science and innovation! ...Certainly something to aspire toward :-) I'd love to know if I could take a first-step by applying the Wavlet to my KEF R900s!!?

It's definitely worth listening to Legacy's. The only down side is that they are unforgiving of poorly mastered material.

But back to Legacy Audio speakers ... I do have to say that, for my desires, their Focus SE's fit perfectly. I had been looking for full range speakers to replace my old Vandersteen 2Ce's for about 10 years. I wanted speakers which had very good Bass Extension, but also good imaging and clarity. When I bought the Vandersteens, I got reasonable Bass Extension (~26Hz), but pretty poor imaging. Initially, I was focused on the ~$7k range but didn't find anything. So when I saw the Audioholics review of the Focus SE's five years ago I was very intrigued. It took me another three years with a couple of auditions before I convinced myself to go for them, but I haven't suffered a second of Buyer's Remorse. They're everything I was hoping for and will probably be the last speakers I ever buy. (I'm sure their Aeris speakers are better, but I just can't convince myself to spend that much.) Casey The Focus SE and Marquis HD Combo is hard to beat....I also have them along with a set of studio HD and Phantom HD rears....

Bill is a great guy and the real deal. Very refreshing in a world filled with hype and ego.
They have many speakers programmed to the Wavelet already and have done some custom programming. Give Brice a call if you want more info on this one. Or call Victoria, she's a sweetheart.... but she'll only send you to Brice. Scott

If my big AR speakers ever give up the ghost I'd get these: BTW, Bill Dudleston was an AR fanboy.

Might just do that :-) Would also be interested in asking them how one could apply Dirac to all other channels, with Wavelet on front speaker duty ...I'm guessing it would be a matter of configuring Wavelet for fronts first, then run Dirac on all speakers and remove filter for fronts...

Great things to say here for Bill and Legacy. I spent six plus hours with him one-on-one a few weeks back and he took me through theory, construction and listening demo and it never felt rushed. We agreed on a significantly customized Aeris configuration that is nearly complete and due to arrive in the next couple weeks. I suspect this will be the end of the road for me in terms of chasing speakers. If you are looking for something special or different than standard, talk with Bill as he is very flexible and great to work with. Very refreshing change from so many “high end” purveyors.

Looking forward to your reaction to the new rig. I forget if you told me what you were planning on with the Aeris. Bi-wire? Are you using the Wavelet with them? Scott

Scott, they were built passive, without internal amps, and with four sets of binding posts to separately drive Woofer 1, Woofer 2, mids and AMT. I asked Bill if he would be willing to work with me to facilitate my driving the woofers with new-gen Ice 1200AS2 amps which I already had coming, instead of the usual internal 500ASPs, and he was very flexible.
I will be getting a Wavelet with the speakers. As you said already, it was very impressive in my demo with Bill in Springfield. Prior to this, I was already impressed, especially with the huuuuge sweet spot, of the Wavelet-based Gayle Sanders speakers at AXPONA. Bill had design input on this project, as well.

Will be fun and allow you a lot of flexibility but also be a lot of amps to drive.
What was the reason for ditching the factory ICE amps?
Will be a nice rig to listen to for sure. Scott

Yes, flexibility. Can quad amp, if desired, enabled by Wavelet. Can also utilize nothing more than 1200AS2 in 12”x12” case, separately driving each woofer, and a smaller 700AS1 driving jumpered mids/AMTs, one sat atop the other, right behind each speaker. Starting from scratch with brand-new speakers, it seemed silly to drive the woofers with previous-gen ICE amps inside the cabinets, when I could instead use newer architecture ICE amps, with more power, that I already had coming. Class D is changing so rapidly, having flexibility to use the latest only seemed sensible, and Bill agreed and was very willing to work with me in building the speakers as such. He also gave me a quite reasonable pricing allowance for the omitted 500ASPs.
