The basx and gen 3 have been out for a while now and I haven't seen the AP reports. Does Emotiva plan to release them?

Flat frequency response, low distortion, low price, solid state, low price.
There are all the specs needed.

I'd add 10khz square wave response.
And some stuff NEVER referenced in AP data or 'Specs'. LIke how much feedback and by stage? How much bias is applied so you can gauge class 'A' power before transition? Dynamic headroom?
Specs are ADVISORY at best, and at worst either misleading or simply confusing.

I really can’t remember the last time I cared about specs except gain and wpc.

I really can’t remember the last time I cared about specs except gain and wpc. Completely utterly irrelevant Bill. Sorry. They should at least be available. Emotiva used to use such information to brag and sell. Now they don't even post it? Can't say I've really searched, but if its truly not available, um, well, then its just another one of those.....

Maybe Emo has concluded specs may not rule when it comes to great sonics, or maybe............

Maybe Emo has concluded specs may not rule when it comes to great sonics, or maybe............ Sometimes things that measure less than stellarly can sound better than things that do. I'd suspect that the BasX A300 may (or may not) measure well enough to satisfy the "measurements-uber-alles" crowd, but to my ears, it sounds better than the vast majority of power amps (many of which probably measure better). "Pro" gear often has "better" measurements than "audiophile" gear does. But which sounds better - A Crown Class-D powerhouse or an Emotiva? Now I'll readily concede that some can't hear a difference, and for those folks, why not save some money? But I'm reasonably picky about what I think sounds good. Right now, I've got four most excellent sounding power amps in the house (all of which sound differently, and some of which may measure poorly): Heathkit 12 watt tube monoblocks Emotiva BasX A300 McIntosh MC205 (on loan for review) Carver five-channel Reference AV amp I could happily live with any of the above. But my needs aren't yours. If you want good specs, it's your money - buy some! I've learned not to worry so much about the specs and to trust my ears instead. Boomzilla

Yep, agree 100% w/Boom. Specs, no matter WHAT are no guarantee of 'good sound'. Or BAD, for that matter. Even an old (original) Stereo 70 sounds very musical, though some of its meaurables are mediocre by modern standards. The NEW Stereo 70? I'll bet this thing is one of the best in its price / power range. www.soundandvision.com/content/return-iconic-dynaco-st70-tube-ampThis is the 'Mark III' version and is very true to the original with meaningful performance improvements.

www.stereophile.com/content/emotiva-xpa-gen3-two-channel-power-amplifierRead the review. Talks about the poor measurements of the Gen 3 amp, although also stating it sounded good. Several of us mentioned the poor measurements and even Big Dan weighed in stating he was bewildered by the measurements and was going to contact Stereophile for the less than stellar measurements. As far as I could see, he never did. Stereophile usually posts any replies from manufacturers that weigh in on any findings or issues with the reviews.

Leonski take a look at the VTA ST70, at half the price with many, many upgrades over the original.

Never got to the $$$ part. I simply can't use 35 watts per panel for my Maggies.
The Stereo 70 has more mods, modders, rebuilders and users than ever. Tube rolling would potentially make me Nuttier!
The attraction of some of the newer amps is the SS rectification, ridding the amp of that difficult rectifier tube and adding some capacitance. The Mark III adds new transformers and switchable output impedance.
The Bob L. versions get terrific reviews. No question that the amp hit a sweet spot. I looked at the site some time ago but don't remember much. I DO know that if I were using higher sensitivity speakers, this amp could be on the list. Or even the new Mark III, sort'a depending on stuff I can't predict.
Not having heard much of this gear, I'm not about to DisCount AnyThing!
Audio Show coming soon. See 'ya there.
