I have a pair of XPA-1 Gen-1s, what benefit if any would replacing them with Gen-2s get me?
What can I sell my Gen-1s for?

You would gain 60 watts class A.

The gen 1’s are desirable to this day but I couldn’t tell you what they’ll sell for. Others will be able to give you a better idea. Gen 2 amps will give you a brand new 5 year warranty and perhaps the last A/B amp produced by Emotiva. Good luck with you decision. 😁🎶🎶🎶🎶

Has anyone compared the sound of the smaller brother, the XPA-1Ls, with XPA-1s? How much better (if at all) do the XPA-1s sound? I have a pair of XPA-1Ls driving MLogan Theos with Rythmik subs.

I have a pair of XPA-1 Gen-1s, what benefit if any would replacing them with Gen-2s get me? What can I sell my Gen-1s for? I bought my pair of Gen 1 XPA-1's from the Emotiva jadedesign store with a one year warranty shipped to me for under $1200. Just to give you an example of used resale value. There was a pair of Gen 1 XPA-1 amps here in the Emporium for months at $1000 for the pair. No honest way of knowing their worth. Emotiva has a buy back offer that to me at least, is extremely low. If you decide to go that route, I will buy them from you first. I actually prefer the Gen 1 to the Gen 2 so unless you are unhappy with the Gen 1, I would advise keeping them! Tim

I like my XPA-1, Gen-1s, just fine. Thought I'd see if there was something I was missing.
I replaced my UMC-1 with an XMC-1 and replaced it with a Marantz 7704, so I have both of those that I really need to try and sell.

If so you should post them in the Emporium....unless you already have. People in here are always looking for gear. Good luck!

Well, I bit the bullet and just bought a pair. I always wanted a pair of these monoblocks for a long time now but have been mostly satisfied with what I already have. Just one of those bucket list type items that you never got around to. Not sure which I'd like more, these or the new designs but maybe one day I'll get the chance to hear the difference. Perhaps a DR1 gen 2 or 3. Who knows. Now I have to worry about getting a bigger rack as I have no idea where I'm going to fit these. They may sit in their boxes for a while until I figure it out. Sigh...

I got the XPA-1 Gen 1. Should I upgrade to Gen 2? The class A part is very intriguing. Yes/no?

I haven't heard the XPA-1 gen1 . I have however heard the XPA-1-L (both gen 1 and 2) vs the XPA-1 gen 2. And for me there was an audible difference. The XPA-1 was able to reach lower and felt a bit more open in the sound while the XPA-1 L felt like it had a bit of compression on dynamics at all volumes. TLDR, the XPA-1 gen 2 is an improvement over the XPA-1 L for me. In fact a pair was an improvement over QUAD amped XPA-1 L. Note that this was tested on full range towers fully balanced- Axiom m100 and Tekton Pendragons

For dedicated HT use, would it be worth grabbing 3 XPA-1's over a DR3?

For dedicated HT use, would it be worth grabbing 3 XPA-1's over a DR3? I haven't heard the DR series. I have used my XPA-1 gen 2's for movies in stereo configuration and it's quite enjoyable. A lot of slam for action movies. It may be hard to tell the difference though in movies vs music.

Decided to pull the trigger on a pair of XPA-1 Gen 2 and now debating to cancel and purchase a XPA-DR2, one driver is the distance between the speaker terminals (would need to invest in additional speaker cables).
Curious if others think the XPA-DR2 is on par with a pair of XPA-1 Gen2? Also, I will be driving Revel F208s.
Thanks

LCSeminole, thanks for the reply, what's your thoughts going to a single XPA-DR2 Vs. 2 XPA-1s?

Given Emotiva's 30 day trial I may consider purchasing a XPA-DR2 and perform a comparison. My concern, would Emotiva consider taking back either or given the assumption one model would be coming back based on the evaluation??
