arjna: No surprise here. The unit has been a standard for some time and I, like others above, cannot understand why Emotive is abandoning the class A world. There is no real competition at this price point. Tant pis! It's all about margins Wait until the ante is raised in the next round in the trade war with China. I would not be surprised if audiophile equipment becomes vulnerable, as hi-tech electronics, and margins disappear; worst case is if Xi just tells all those ships to turn around and come back to home port, say a month or so before Christmas: lots of empty stockings here, including some of ours. That begs the question: is there any Emotiva electronic product made in Franklin that costs less than $1K? ($999 doesn't count.) Trade wars can be nasty and damaging to lots of folks on all sides, not just to soybean farmers, who are common not that far west of Franklin, and hi-tech manufacturing is not guaranteed to countries for a reason, I think called specialization. (Sidenote: a fifth or so of BMW's auto manufacturing in SC goes to China because US labor costs are less than costs in highly-unionized Germany.) BTW, a rhetorical question: who was the last US president to see US manufacturing increase during his term? Answer: Ike.

It sure wasn't Nixon, who took the USA off the Gold Standard which started a LOT of what we call 'modern problems'. It was supposed to be a temporary solution! That was around '72 or '73? www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNAvsrY9vR4recording of entire speech is available, but this is the 'nut' of the matter. I've visited the site of the Breton Woods Conference. It's at the Mt. Washington Hotel in New Hampshire.

We are down to single digits of available XPA-1 G2s, so if you still considering it, this is your last chance! Thanks for the update. Some future enthusiasts will surly cry for not having a set. 😢 And other future enthusiasts will surely have a surly cry for not having a set, but not me!

You're saying that U.S. manufacturing has not increased since the Eisenhower administration? That U.S. manufacturing steadily declined through the Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush I, Clinton, Bush II, Obama & Trump administrations? Clearly you're misstating a very easily obtainable measurement.

That U.S. manufacturing steadily declined through the Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush I, Clinton, Bush II, Obama & Trump administrations? Clearly you're misstating a very easily obtainable measurement. Actually, the yardstick is manufacturing as a percentage of total employment, which represents the change of our economy from manufacturing-based to service and idea-based. For example, here is a graph for 1970-2012 showing the historical downward trend. fred.stlouisfed.org/series/USAPEFANAAnd another one from right after the war is in: www.rickackerman.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/MFG1.jpgNote that the curve as a percentage of GDP is basically constant. This is a natural trend in the evolution of modern economies. From another source: "Data from the 1910 Census show that 32 percent of nonfarm jobs were in manufacturing; in 2015, manufacturing accounted for less than 9 percent of total nonfarm employment. The number of people employed in manufacturing was 8 million in 1910 and 12 million in 2015. While employment in manufacturing grew over the past 100 years, employment in other industries grew more."

So, I am a dork for being 60 years old & excited about getting 2 XPA-1 Gen 2s? Sorry, can't help it Sooo looking forward to getting the living room reno done & listening to my updated system. It's been 2 years in the making.
Regretted not getting XPR-1s in the first place, and then another 2 XPA-1ls. Determined not to make it 3 in a row.

Those amps will be missed. Don't worry, they are commonly available out there on the used market.

I have a pair of Gen1's and I really like them. A lot. I used to be in that camp of "All amps sound the same" - but I've been converted. My signature tells my story

I don't think for a moment that I'm "settling" for an inferior amp or am not getting an amp that I'd rather have. As it worked out, I think I'm getting the perfect amps in the XPA-1 Gen 2 for my current needs at a great price.

They're On The Way! My set has been shipped -- 4 and a half weeks after order. Let's hear it for Emotiva -- beating its shipping estimate by two weeks and more. Have got a set of Tekton Double Impacts all tuned and ready to sing with the XPAs. We'll see how much better they sound over the XPA-1Ls that has been feeding them for a year. Will not be offering the 1Ls for sale -- they're too good and there is no reason not to have a spare set of monos in the garage... ...now if I can keep from ordering the new Tekton Ulfberhts to take advantage of the XPAs 1000 watts...
