Can anyone comment on the transport used in the CD-100? Is it similar to the implementation of the ERC-3, a DVD transport spinning the disk at higher speed into a large buffer, as described in the first post in this thread from 2016: emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/47891/why-erc-3-sound-goodOr is the transport a CD specific transport, spinning at lower rpm? Or is it a DVD or computer transport but not implemented the way the ERC-3 transport is?

The transport mechanism in the CD-100 is quite similar to the one used in the ERC-3. It is essentially a computer DVD drive... operated about as it is in the ERC-3. The audio circuitry in the CD-100 is actually quite good, and its DAC sounds nice, but the ERC-3 does have a better DAC... The ERC-3 also has several other output options that the CD-100 doesn't have - like balanced audio. Can anyone comment on the transport used in the CD-100? I have the TA-100 BasX integrated amp, which has the same AD1955 DAC as the ERC-3, so perhaps I could expect the sonic performance of the CD-100 pushing bits into the TA-100 to be in the ballpark of the ERC-3? So far, I'm really enjoying using my budweiser-budget Teac CDP-650 as a transport via Toslink into the TA-100. The sound just keeps getting better and better to my ear. I wonder how the CD-100 transport compares to other $300 single disk CD players on the market, namely, the Yamaha CD-S300, NAD C538, and Cambridge Audio Topaz CD-10? No manufacturer, at this price point, including Emotiva, seems to give more than glancing attention to the transport in their marketing efforts. Emotiva's marketing goes so far as to suggest that the CD-100 functions as a "bit perfect" transport, but doesn't expand on this in comparison to competitors.
