I am looking for the proper configuration as I move towards ATMOS. I already have a DR-3 powering my L/C/R.
I plan on using SVS Ultra Surrounds for my rears and Prime Elevations for my front heights and eventually my ceilings.
Initial purchase will be for 7.1, but will get to the .4 as I’m moving to a new house and am not sure if the ceiling heights will support Prime Elevations in the .4 configuration.
I am guessing people recommend just buying an 8 channel amp to handle all 8 speakers now instead of 4 channel and having to send it back later to have two more modules added.
What configuration do you recommend? The website selector is not intuitive in its description. I am thinking single modules for rear and front heights, stereo modules for ceilings...

I think you are on the right track. Single modules for the four surrounds and two stereo modules for the in ceiling speakers. For the XPA-8 you want it would be called Eight-4-2S (Eight total channels, four single blades, two stereo blades). Cost is $1799.

Might as well just fill the amp right up, who knows when you might need an extra few channels Ten-4-3S Never know when you want a couple of channels for another zone or when the next sound format comes out with more speakers lol, I only run a 5.2 but the other two channels of my PA 7-350 power my two Emotiva outdoor speakers on the patio Chad
