Having just bought the MC700 along with the (really quite good) seven channel amp, I have stumbled across a few odd operational glitches. Now, as the MC700 isn't Japanese I was expecting some quirks, but not this many. Are these problems known or do I have a faulty unit? I'm running the latest firmware.
1 - 640x480 resolution output using NvIdia Shield as a source. Needs a restart to fix with the source left on. After restart 1080p is, correctly, output. 2 - no signal possible from an Xbox 1 S with just white snow showing (at a resolution of 640x480). Restart required while source left on and 1080p is output. 3 - When restarting the processor, due to above points, occasionally results in perfect picture but no sound. Display on the MC 700 indicates no sound received. Another restart fixes this issue. 4 - LPCM audio from Xbox 1 S will often be in just stereo with the other channels 'switching on' a few mins later. To be clear the sound output in LPCM from the Xbox is not a down mix but the actual L and R channels of the 5.1 sound field. So no dialogue, for instance. 5 - Direct mode bypasses processing, as it should, but maintains bass management. So If I want to listen in stereo with full range fronts I have to change the speaker config to large or just use the sub. Thing is, the sub never gets a signal in direct mode so bass is always cut off at the x-over frequency. Surely this is a broken system and quite different to direct modes found in Yamaha or Denon products.
Any assistance or confirmation that 'this is how the MC 700 is supposed to work' would be appreciated.
Thanks Russell

Not sure on your HDMI issues, just to say I have had some intermittent HDMI issues with my PC as a music server and switching to a certified cable removed those issues. Also, you should be using inputs 4-6 if not a 4k source. As far as I have seen Direct mode does bypass Bass Management unless you have DOUBLEBASS enabled. I usually run Stereo mode with DOUBLEBASS enabled to use the SUB and to take advantage of the room correction that EMO-Q provides. Hope this helps.

On my MC-700 without double bass enabled (a feature I've never liked from other marques) bass management is still active with a PCM stereo only input from a Linn streamer with Direct engaged. I can change the x-over to 100hz and the bass level reduces - I'd have thought that Bass Management would be bypassed in direct? I don't want to use EMO-Q as the Linn streamer already has a far more appealing room correction built in. Indeed the EMO-Q results are quite poor so I prefer to use Flat or Direct modes. The more I think on it the more I feel that the MC-700 is a half baked product. I'd rather have bought a mid price Japanese receiver.

You are in the wrong space pairing an MC700 or any other "mid priced" Japanese receiver with that Linn or an equivalent streaming device.

I had thought that a basic processor that did the basics right would be good enough with a reasonable power amp. It is not, however. Thanks, Russell
