While my music collection is predominantly Rock from the mid-60s through the early 80s, with a lot of blues thrown in, I have a pretty large Jazz collection as well, especially 50s and early 60s (along with some late 20s and 30s I inherited from my dad). I find myself listening to a lot more jazz than I use to (though I still like to rock it). I currently have a set of Magnepan MMGs for my mains and I confess to loving the Maggie sound, but I watch a lot of movies and have gotten that upgrade "itch". Was pretty set on just getting a set of .7s (my room really wouldn't handle 1.7is) but thought I should take a look at what else is out there. Airmotiv T2s keep coming up as a feasible alternative.
I'm interested if there are other jazz listeners who could comment on how well the T2s do with it.
Thanks!

I don't own the T2's but I do own Magggie 1.7's and listen to a lot of jazz. One thing I love with the Maggies with jazz is how wonderfully all the musicians are positioned in the room. I have heard the T2's at Emofest, and I was really impressed with their imaging there. I think we listened to a bit of jazz but it was pretty clear overall that the imaging was great. If I were to switch from my Maggies, the T2's would be way up the list to consider.

I listen to a lot of Jazz and I do not own the T2 but do own the T1, its smaller brother. I also have owned the MMG's for 17 years. I sold the Maggies a few years ago. I can tell you that I love the sound of the MMG's but always was limited in the room I was using them in at the time to their placement and the "sweet spot" being so narrow. The T1 are very dynamic and smooth with very good imaging. Soundstage is great and although the speaker is some what "forward" in its voicing it is very well done. I have heard nothing but good things about the T2. It is a tough choice but the I believe that the Emotiva T series are a better overall speaker. I find them a little more forgiving of some of my classic rock albums recording that in some cases are not the best. I suggest you give then a try under the 30 return period. Matthew

I keep hearing this. I honestly love the Maggie sound, but do want to move "up". The T2s seem to offer the best bang for the buck, along with the C2, with a (folded) ribbon tweeter in the same price range as a pair of .7s (and they take up less space).

It seems you already made up your mind about the t2s so just get them and start the 30 day trial like it was already suggested.

Yeah, but everytime I listen to music I keep thinking will I ever be satisfied with anything other than Maggies? Also, packing up and returning speakers this size is a pain. I'm still hoping others who've made this switch or have T2s and listen to the same kind of jazz will chime in. I'm in no hurry.

I personally think that box speakers will ultimately sound like well box speakers. I replaced my Paradigm studio 100s with the MG12s several years agp and while the Studios were a more dynamic speaker, they could not give me the music enjoyment that the maggies currently do. I later purchase a set of 1.7s at a ridiculous price. I still have the MG12s but mostly listen to the 1.7s.

I think you would pick up some bass with the trade. I went to the T2 demo at least three times at Emofest, and the bass was controlled and deep! It is quite difficult to get that level of slam from panels, just as it is difficult to get all that Maggie transparency with Heil tweeters.
