Hi
New here. I need some advice.
Just pulled the trigger on a pair of Stealth PA-1 monoblocks.
I was excited so downloaded the manuals, while they start the almost 10,000 mile journey to me in Singapore.
There's something in there that's got me a little worried.
It says on pg 7, that because the PA-1 is fully balanced, I shouldn't connect the speaker outputs to any device (such as powered loudspeakers) that's tied to a common ground. Well, that makes sense.
However, I have a pair of Goldenears, with a passive upper section, but also powered subwoofers.
I know that the powered sub draws input from the low-passed signal off the speaker terminals, because that's how I'm using it (with the LFE input on the speakers un-connected).
If I now use the PA-1's to drive the Triton connected via the passive speaker terminals, does that violate the warning?
Let me know if I'm not clear.

The pictures I have viewed of the back of powered Goldenear speakers shows only two pronged power input, so you should be o.k.

Ah, I see. The ones in Singapore might actually come with three (std IEC), so perhaps I should get one that disables the ground, meaning an IEC on one end, but only two on the mains end. Might do it. Thanks, and if you think it won't work, let me know. The pictures I have viewed of the back of powered Goldenear speakers shows only two pronged power input, so you should be o.k.

I would drop a note to Goldenear and ask them. I suspect it is not a problem as a number of amplifiers have balanced outputs.

The sensing circuit almost certainly isolates the internal sub signal from the speaker inputs. Think of all the systems that would have ground loop issues at the very least if the ground was connected.
