greetings,
i'm soon to connect a couple of power amps to my stealth 8s.
i have the choice of connecting to 6Ω, 8Ω, or 16Ω on the backs of the amps.
which might work best for the stealth 8s?
thanks in advance!

ummm, i can't connect an amp to the stealth 8s? The stealth 8s have built in power amps. Connect from preamp outs. High Quality Class A/B Amplification Separate 200 watt audiophile grade Class A/B amplifiers for the woofer and tweeter deliver plenty of power where you need it. Flexible Input Options Industry-standard “combi” input jack accepts balanced XLR and ¼” inputs, as well as unbalanced ¼” inputs, for maximum flexibility.

300B's sound pretty good. Match those amps to a high efficiency speaker system and you should have a listenable music system. But no, you don't need them with powered speakers.

I call spam on this..connecting 300Bs to Stealth 8s?
Got to be kidding!

It 's possible to add a resistor network to reduce the voltage to the Stealth 8's. I have a set of Musical Fidelity 550K Supercharger monoblocks that do that. Also it's common for sub amps to have speaker level inputs to their built in amps.

I'd keep the amps and get different speakers myself. Especially if you have room for both. One of the huge advantages to getting self powered speakers is space and ease of hookup. If you have space for those sweet looking amps, sell the speakers instead and get some different ones. Just my 2 cents.

I don't understand. How did you not know they were active speakers? I reccomend a nice used DC-1. There's one on sale in the emporium section right now. It will give your Emotiva 8's a proper balanced signal.

It will give your Emotiva 8's a proper balanced signal. it's not that i didn't know that they were active, but i didn't know that pairing them with an amp would cause problems. in my (feeble) defense, i did send the following email to a friend who is a professional audio engineer. included with the email were the specs for the XSP-1 (gen 2), Stealth 8s, and Triode power amps. unfortunately, he didn't really read everything that i included in the email. he's since apologized for his oversight, but that doesn't really "solve" my "problem". "i know you must get a ton of these, so i apologize in advance for asking, but you're really the only person i know who might be able to answer a few questions i have about an audio purchase i want to make. i seem to have been bitten by the analogue bug since having bought a turntable a few months back, and now i want to purchase two mono-block tube amplifiers. below are a few questions i have, and below the questions are photos/screenshots of the various pieces of the puzzle. if you have a few minutes, do you mind looking through the questions and images and sharing your engineering insight? i would really appreciate your input. questions: - the amps have volume knobs on them, but my pre-amp also has a volume control. when listening, how do i control the volume? i imagine i will just set the volume on the amps, not touch them again, and then change the volume from the pre-amp (it has a remote). will that work? - the speaker outs are selectable for the reds at 6 ohms, 8 ohms, and 16 ohms. based on my speaker's specs, which should i choose? (i see no mention of ohms at all in the manual, but i do have input sensitivity adjustment) - what is the name of signal out connectors on the back of the amps? what kind of connector/cable do i need to run from the amps into the speakers? the speakers have balanced XLR (not possible to connect with the amps), balanced 1/4" (may be possible to connect to speaker), and unbalanced 1/4". i know that 1/4" connector looks like a male headphone jack, but i can't envision the other end that goes into the back of the amp. - do you see any compatibility issues based on the specs from the pre-amp, and amp, and speakers? - any other thoughts or comments?" oh well, live and learn (and listen!)

I gotcha. Sorry if I came off rude. The good news is that the 8's have a very powerful amp section. Two of them per speaker. They also sound really very good. Have you hooked them up yet? You don't need to buy an XSP-01 gen 2. Imo the DC-1 XLR output sounds cleaner and I would use that instead. The DC-1 happens to have a companion SP-1 phono preamplifier that you can purchase. And the resulting setup is smaller than the XSP-1. However the XSP-1 is a really nice looking piece of gear and it does sound pretty good and has (nearly) the same phono preamplifier as the companion SP-1. Make sure to hook up the 8's to XLR cables from the XSP-1 or whatever thing you get. The advantage of the DC_1 is that if you have a CD player or DVD player (or computer with music) you can hook them all up digitally to the DC-1 and it will convert the digital audio into analog with some very high quality converters. So basically if you have a device with a digital output, everyone will get a high quality digital to analog conversion. It will also work with your turntable with the SP-1 companion (or with any phono preamp that you buy using the analog input). I use my DC-1 to get great audio through my blu ray player, fire tv, CD player and computer. And because they connect digitally they all have the same high quality conversion. I've also got it connected to my turntable using a pure analog path using its analog input. The analog input has a pure analog path and is not converted to digital. Even the preamplifier section uses an analog resistor ladder similar to the XSP-1.

i've been listening to my XSP-1 and Stealth 8s for a little over two years now (using Mogami Gold XLR cables), and i absolutely love the sound; however, i want to introduce tubes into my system. i will most likely store the amps and switch out the Stealth 8s in a couple of years when my audio fund is replenished.

I suggest putting a tube buffer between your XPS-1 and the Stealths to get a flavor of "tube sound" and if you like it, consider either replacing the XSP-1 with a tube preamp or using your 300B amps with different speakers.
