And, let's not forget, we even had Leonard Nemoy and William Schiitner release music covering "pop" songs of the day. Yikes...that was bad! Mark Blasphemy!!!!!! 😂 It certainly got better with The Next Generation. I own this CD and we even used it on our wedding favors CD. Comes from a CD called Ol' Yellow Eyes Is Back. This is Brent with the Sunspots, featuring LeVar, Michael, Jonathan, and the other guy. I'll let you figure it out. We just thought it was hilarious the first time we heard it driving the back roads to Cinci one Saturday. youtu.be/-jexAHF_NpQ

As do most articles saying something "sucks," that article sucks. Well you are also the same person who basically said there is no such thing as inferior or bad music. Please correct me if I'm wrong about this. I will dispute that premise until I die. Music made without integrity, honesty, soul, love, talent, and a lot of other descriptive words describing "real" music, made for the sole purpose of profit, can stick it where the sun don't shine.

Music is music. All of it, no matter how much "integrity" or "soul" you or anyone else might think it has or doesn't have, all music appeals to someone. You might think my taste in music sucks and I might think yours does, but that does not invalidate any of it. It's about taste.

You might think my taste in music sucks and I might think yours does, but that does not invalidate any of it. It's about taste. Sorry man, it's just not that simple. We will most certainly have to agree to disagree. Or just not agree at all. I guess I just expect and hold music to my own standard. I'm very hard on myself. People like to joke with me about how I think I'm always right or how I'm perfect. Far from it. I'm so far from perfect its not even worth discussion. I'm INTJ personality, so I'm most certainly my hardest critic. The difference is I try to reach perfection, and do the best I can, out of integrity. I expect the same from music. Brittany S. or Justin B. have zero quality I appreciate. So its not all about taste. It's much more. I would say its much more about personal code. Everyone lives by a code. I prefer people who stand by their codes, regardless of whether they match mine. Of course everyone has different codes. But if you don't hold quality and integrity and soul in high regard when it comes to music, then our codes don't match. I also think having a sense of humor about music is very important. Sometimes it's just about that. Of course there is that snappy tune that grabs you even if it was created purely out of greed, and I can dig that too. But its the exception, not a rule.

I just think music like everything else in life continues to evolve, the music I listened to started with what my mother/family listened to: Aretha Franklin, The o'Jays, Bobby Blue Bland, Gloria Lynne, Nancy Wilson, Nina, Brook Benton, Sam Cooke just to scratch the surface. From that beginning my musical taste has expanded beyond my wildest expectations having said all that I'm not sure I don't agree with the OP. I happen to like two new acts, I like Marian Hill, and I also Like Bruno Mars and the Hooligans, they are doing some old school like Prince, and The Time, and they can really sing. I grew up with the Jackson five, and Smokey Robinson, I could name names all night, bottom line is this is like what I grew up with and I'm a big fan, my older sister, I'm 62, when I asked her about Bruno Mars she said that the cheapest tickets she could find were three hundred dollars she's a fan and she's older than me. Our parents played music that started our journey, we continued from there, it's all about what type of music you enjoy. I look forward to new releases from these two artist. But I have to admit the majority of the music I purchase is the stuff I grew up on! .

Modern music doesn't suck any more than it sucked 30 years ago.
Modern RADIO and modern RECORD LABELS suck.

Modern RADIO and modern RECORD LABELS suck. So very true. To my knowledge the real DJs are gone. Are there any out there anymore that get to pick the music they play? Are there any that have special shows they make up themselves? Are there any that have styles of their own? Who tunes into a station anymore just because their favroite DJ is spinning tunes? I❤️Radio can suck it. Anyone seen the movie called Pirate Radio? That's how radio should be.
