I just got my new emotiva speakers last. After replacing my old speakers i fired up audyssey and it said both my front speakers were out of phase. Is this expected due to the design of the T2's? My wiring is 100% correct. If i reverse the plugs, the error goes away.
I've seen conflicting information online ranging from ignore the error to swap the plugs or the speaker was wired wrong. The error never happened with my old speakers so i can't imagine it's my room causing it.

I wouldn’t rely too heavily on audyssey. I have gotten the out of phase notice on more than one occasion with different speakers.

Hmmm....processors saying speakers are out of phase is a common thing that happens especially with the UMC-200. It doesn't necessarily mean it's true. I would check to make sure the speakers are indeed wired in phase by using this (go to the phase test section): www.richardfarrar.com/are-your-speakers-wired-correctly/And if it;s wired correctly, I think that's all that matters.

I almost wonder if both speakers were wired incorrectly internally at the factory. If I swap both, then Audyssey is happy. If I only swap one then it says the one I didn't swap is still out of phase. With them both hooked up correctly (Audyssey saying it's out of phase) the test files sound fine... which makes sense... they are still in phase to each other even if both are wired incorrectly. I'm not sure how to prove the speaker is wired correctly besides Audyssey telling me it's wrong.

Good call. I tried the 9v battery trick. The woofers went out when + to + was connected on both my front speakers and my center speaker. Seems they are connected just fine. It must just be Audyssey with a false positive. Good news!

There isn’t a hard standard on the correct way to wire a speaker, especially for older speakers. So just because your T2’s are different than your other speakers doesn’t mean they’re wrong (unless your other speakers are also Emotiva). The question is whether a positive signal on the positive terminal causes the speaker to go out, or in. As pedrocols suggests a battery can tell you that. Take the cover off of your speaker and connect the negative battery terminal to the negative speaker therminal, then momentarily touch the positive battery to the positive speaker terminal and watch which way the woofer goes (in or out). Do that for all of you speakers and see if they are the same. If they are all the same and your sure your cabling is right, then Audyssey is wrong. However, if the T2’s are different than your other speakers then indeed their cables should be swapped. It’s not necessarily right or wrong, it’s ‘the same’. Edit: Oops, too late.

I had Odd-I-See tell me this all the time.
