NOTE:
One common issue with old UMC-200 units is a failing power supply.
The most common symptom is that, when you power the unit on, the button halo turns blue for a few seconds, then back to amber.
This is a hardware problem - and the power supply can be repaired (we no longer service them but can provide instructions to a qualified technician).
IF YOU ATTEMPT TO UPGRADE THE FIRMWARE ON A UNIT WHOSE HARDWARE IS FAILING YOU MAY RENDER IT PERMAMENTLY IRREPARABLE.
NOTE:
The firmware on the UMC-200 has not been upgraded in quite some time.
If you are experiencing specific issues, and have older firmware, then updating the firmware may help.
HOWEVER we DO NOT recommend "updating just to have the latest firmware" if your UMC-200 is otherwise working well.
(The update process is somewhat fussy... and, if it fails, you may end up with a non-working unit... so we do not recommend upgrading without a specific reason.)
