Anyone out there doing this and if so, what are your thoughts on it? Im deciding on whether or not I should upgrade to this set up or just buy a new HT preamp for ease of use.
Thanks,
Jason

I use HT bypass, previously with AVR’s and most recently with processors. It’s the best solution I have found for running a combined system. Like power amps, a good analogue pre amp is a good pre amp for a long time, years, decades even. They don’t go out of date technically like digital components.
Cheers Gary

I was doing HT bypass with the XSP-1 before the XMC-1 came out, after that I’ve used the XMC-1 (+XPS-1) for HT and 2C, sounds very good for both to me. Really depends on the preamp, it’s capabilities, and what you need/like.

Definitely one of the reasons I'm looking at possibly doing this. If you are running a stereo pre amp and processor, how many amps are you running?

I've just decided that I'm not interested in all the the problems that everyone has conveyed here. It needs to work when my wife turns on music or the TV. I can't have her doing resets and changing sources to get it to work. I also think the user interface is terrible. I want the ability to have great 2 channel music and surround sound. Pretty simple. Been looking at ways to do that without having a different set up in each room. That is not feasible where I am currently.

Definitely one of the reasons I'm looking at possibly doing this. If you are running a stereo pre amp and processor, how many amps are you running? I have 2 x XPA-1L’s for FL & FR and an XPA-100 as the subwoofer amp. The amps are located close by their respective speaker with long XLR balanced interconnects and very short speaker cables. For HT I use 3 channels of an XPA-5 (the other 2 channels are used for zone 2 the veranda). At some point I’ll probably swing them over for 5.1.2 Atmos/DTSX. In regards to the XMC-1 I have no issues, it works perfectly with very high WAF. I have a 4K Samsung panel so no DV (a deliberate decision), a HD cable box, an Apple TV 4K and a Sony 4K BD player, which I also use for SACD. So whether you have issues or not with an XMC-1 depends on what you have connected to it. Cheers Gary
