Hello, I just bought the Sennheiser HD600’s and was looking to drive their power hungry 300 Ohm impendence. I currently drive them with my XMC and the volume has to be all the way up and I know they are not at the full potential. I am looking into a tube amplifier because I want to get into tube rolling. Does anyone have any suggestions from the Little Dot MK2, Mk3, or the dark voice? I want to pick ones of these up to start off but I don’t know which one. This will be my first tube amp and please advise. Thanks.

I have used a Little Dot MK3 with Sennheiser HD650’s it was a very nice combo and they sounded great together. I think the MK3 would be excellent for your HD600's.

Does anyone have any suggestions from the Little Dot MK2, Mk3, or the dark voice? I want to pick ones of these up to start off but I don’t know which one. This will be my first tube amp and please advise. Thanks. Stop right now. Buy this A-100 $229: emotiva.com/collections/amps/products/a-100Run it with the jumpers engaged. I have gone through several headphone amp units. There is no doubt that the A-100 drives these things the way they are meant to. You know that "veil" and "laid back" sound of your hd600. Yeah, this takes care of most of that. You definitely get a more open sound with a lot more control. I use it with my HD600 with the jumpers engaged. Just note that you are going to want to adjust the volume with your XMC-1 because of the high gain in jumper mode with the a-100. it's pretty simple. After inserting the jumpers (one time process). Turn down the XMC-1 volume all the way down. Set A-100 to about 10 or 11 o clock and leave it there. After that increase the volume on the XMC-1 slowly and control it from the XMC-1 from then on. Think of it as a set and forget thing. Then you just control the volume using the XMC-1. Sound impressions: Lots of control and slam. When you imagine buying a headphone amp that will impress, this is exactly what that is. It's very fast. You get a very layered sound, deep bass. It essentially takes the HD600's and flings them around. A huge amount of little details. Negative: There is a mild amount of hiss in silence but not heard during music. This is the only disadvantage of using the jumpers because it raises the noise floor. You don't have to use the jumpers but you miss the very quick dyanmics the amps have as it introduces a slight smear to the dynamics.

The Little Dot will not make you happy. The hard drive will be the Little Dots undoing. The Emotiva A100 Bas X is the one. Most power and control your dollars can buy. You can spend allot more if you want but the A100 Bas X is the Headphone amplifier disguising itself as amplifier for speakers. Way recommended!

I have gotta say I really loved the sound of the Little Dot MK3 with my Sennheiser HD650’s. The Little Dot MK3 is very nice quality, well made, very solid and sounds excellent, I'd really highly recommend it. I have since upgraded to a Woo Audio WA6 and Klipsch Heritage HP-3 headphones.

The Little DOT has more power at a higher impedance than a lower one, I owned a MKII which was wonderful for HD600's I love the recommendations of not buying a certain amp when that person has never even owned one haha. Those amps look great. I received my A-100 last night and I can’t wait to hook it up. I have a triathlon this morning but will check it out this afternoon. I would of been great to listen to eye of the tiger prior to me taking off. Have a great day.

However do yourself a favor and try the jumpers. There is a different character to the sound which I find better. It's worth it just to try.

Garbulky,
Are you saying for certain the A-100 would make a killer headphone amp ?
I'm very new and green to this headphone thing but in the last week I have given myself quite an education and spent too many hours researching today.
I finally ordered a set of the Massdrop HIFIMAN HE4XX, In a previous thread we discussed the dismal headphone output on my XSP so I have been shopping inexpensive $100 Headphone amps. Going between the Mani 3 and the Monolith Liquid Spark I'm now leaning heavily towards the Spark.
If the A-100 can suffice and even surpass the performance of the two Im looking at I'd be glad to get on, I'd love to keep it in the "family". I plan on running whichever headphone amp I choose from the line output of the XSP.
Tom

I don’t have much experience with other headphone amps but the A-100 is an awesome pair with my Senn HD-600’s. It is night and day difference compared to the output of the XMC and there is plenty of headroom. You will not go wrong with the A-100 especially with the jumpers installed.

I was also looking at the magni and liquid spark amps. Ended up getting an Asgard 2 for about the same price as I would’ve paid for the other two. Haven’t received it yet but pretty excited.
