So I am new to the Dac area. I am looking to add either 2.1 or 3.1 to my gaming Pc setup.
What is the better option to go. 1. Powered speakers? (Can I add my subwoofer to it) 2. A Dac (which one) with passive speakers 3. Just bookshelves with a avr.
I have a Psa xv15 subwoofer already. (Overkill I know) but I want this to connect in with them. So the 2 speakers don’t have to be real heavy on bass.
The speakers will be wall mounted if that effects choice in speakers as well.

Whats your budget for this project? Likely the most important question.

If 3.1 is for real in the cards, a DAC which is a 2 channel solution in of itself is out. An AVR might be easier. The BAS-X speakers on emotiva.com/collections/loudspeakers/products/airmotiv-e1 for the wall mount 2.1 setup. The center channel usually is not a wall mount unless you might use a shelf for all 3 channels, then the B1 bookshelves and the C1 center come to mind. And pick an AVR of your choice. Run optical out from your computer, call it a day.
