Individual equalization for subwoofers

Using a calibrated UMIK-1 and REW software, I got the following curves for my two subs:

LEFT SUB:


RIGHT SUB:


FACTOIDS:

1. The right sub is closer to the listening position than the left one
2. Both subs are driven via the same monophonic sub output via Y cables
3. The left sub is closer to a corner than the right one
4. The right sub needs to be close to a wall for traffic avoidance in the room, but the left one can be pulled out some.
5. Measurements were made with no weighting
6. The sub measurements were made with no low-pass filter engaged


The right sub has a big dip at about 45 Hz. but since I can't fill dips with equalization, I'm looking at one of two things:

1. Move the sub or
2. Apply equalization to the remainder of the active bandwidth to match the amplitude of the dip, then raise the gain to match the left sub

Any other suggestions would be appreciated...

Equalize the hump from 30-60 hz and then see what happens?

Run them together and post the curve with smoothing. And why no low-pass crossover - or if you are using one why is it set so high?

I left the crossover off for measurement purposes (wanted to make sure there was no big peak or dip at or just above the crossover point). If I DO use a crossover, it'll probably be at 80 Hz. If I don't, then the sub's crossovers will probably be set to 50 or 60 Hz.

And yes, I do need to do a "summed" sweep. Thanks for reminding me!

Both subs operating together with a low-pass Xover is how you will be using them, yes? Then this is the only measurement you need.

Whether they'll be using the sub's low pass filtering or the AVR's is yet to be determined. But yes, no matter what - the subs (together) WILL have a low-pass filter.

My advice is to set the subwoofer low pass and the main stereo set high pass to the same value and slope. And no matter what you need to ring the room with all speakers active - both subs, mains, and both subs + mains. Pay attention to how you will use the system, not what individual capabilities might or might not be.
