Hello all,
I'm currently using an entry level denon avr with my T1's (not even rated for 4 ohms). I'm still breaking them in and I'm really enjoying them. So my question is if I'm really getting the full potential out of them. Is there anything out there for under $500 that can really make them sing ?

I just upgraded from an A-500 at 110 WPC @ 8ohms to a XPA-5 at 300 WPC. The sound is noticeably fuller / more dynamic. I am driving low sensitivity 4 ohm speakers and even though I don't play at a overly loud listening level, the speakers are definitely fuller. For under $500, I would look to the used market ( or save your pennies a little longer).

Four UPA-1 monoblocks just got listed here, you could see if he would sell two of them, they would give your T1's more life IMO, back in 2010 I purchased two of them new and added them to my then owned Yamaha receiver and it was a noticeable gain in sound quality at all volumes, my then owned Monitor Audio RX6 towers seemed to be fuller and cleaner sounding with the added power and better amplification, YMMV but for me at that time it was a noticeable improvement.
I notice you say entry level Denon, I'd have to assume there are no pre-outs on the back for adding amplifiers then, what model is it ? Chad

Bottom line - for $500 you're definitely looking at used gear. Not that that's bad, just that it makes selection more hit-and-miss.
Happy shopping!

I was thinking of getting the TA-100. My T1 towers are in a small 14x14 den.

If you don't care about Atmos or HDMI grab a B&K receiver. Tons of power to drive those speakers and excellent build quality...and they are affordable!

Emotiva PA-1 amps. They are the ticket! Small too!

You don't "need" a separate amp to drive those relatively easy to drive speakers. Go to accessories for less and get a decent denon, marantz or for that matter anyone of them in the $500 range. It will drive the t1's just fine. Just remember to take the time to properly set your speaker placement in your room. Enjoy. If you're left wanting then treat your room and or get a better pair of speakers.

Lol you right, yes even our die hard friends here recognize that emo isn't the authority on speakers. Can walk into any best buy and the t1 wouldn't stand out sound wise, but would for sure looks wise. 🤦♂️ They sound good but thats all relative.

For all of you guys that are recommending a two channel amp, or mono-block amps, the OP has no way to utilize those amps. Entry level receivers that have preamp out for the L/R are very rare. Since the T1's are easy to drive an entry level receiver should be just fine.
Actually I'm quite surprised no one recommended the XPA-1' mono's.

Man the sound was really top notch - full range too! Unless the T1 just completely dropped the ball, I can't see these as being anywhere close to mediocre.

Of course, I went to install in ceiling speakers for a client and to my surprise the T1’s were their mains. I spent quite sometime calibrating and listening.

They aren’t particularly special. Were you impressed enough by the T2’s to replace your towers? Hypotheticall question as we all know the answer. Back to the OP, your receiver has plenty of power to drive them. I do not recommend upgrading your power for these unless you’re doing it for future speakers down the road.

I do not recommend upgrading your power for these unless you’re doing it for future speakers down the road. I saw the T2. I actually didn't think they looked bad - no real problems actually. In the pictures though they didn't look good. That mid range woofer being so much smaller than the baffles really stood out. But in real life their small size really made it seem fine. I actually did consider replacing my speakers with them. They were much smaller than my towers and in my small room that would help things. Easier on my back to adjust. They reached down a good bit lower than my towers did in that large room and they had a holographic mid range and treble. I wasn't able to say that the detail was any worse or better than my speakers. Sometimes the room itself can suck, so perhaps you heard them in that room and were unimpressed. I would put the T2 as right near the top of the best speakers I've heard like top three or four at least. They competed easily with the Tekton Pendragon , the Sonus Faber Sonneto VII, and small set of Thiel 1.6 towers - in the same room! They didn't give up much - if anything at all to them. It imaged better than the Pendragon. It had a more open treble than the Sonneto and went significantly deeper. But the Sonneto had a shade bit more "solidity" in the bass instruments. The T2's also beat the Thiels with a more natural treble. For me their value is off the charts.
