Today, after going to the he gym and so on, I thought I would fire up one of my vintage receivers and listen to some digital files via my Little Ego and pc. Well, i have no sound. I uninstalled the drivers via device manager, restarted my Win 10 Pro pc, and reinstalled the drivers. It said the drivers installed, I see the Emotiva symbol and so on via the taskbar, but still no sound. I went into device manager and saw that the Little Ego is now in other devices, claiming that the drivers for the device are not installed. I reran the drivers still no good. I switched to different usb slots, still no good. Is it possible that my Little Ego has died after 3 years?

I forgot to mention that I will try the Little Ego on Surface Book 2 in a bit to see if it works on the machine,

Did you go into properties and run "test" to see if it will at least play the test tone? Device enabled or disabled. You know the easy stuff first of course, than yeah, driver, than a another computer.

You know the easy stuff first of course, than yeah, driver, than a another computer. Yes, I did that many times. It no longer shows up as a device, it seems that it has become progressively worse. I tried installing it on my Surface book 2 instead of my Core I7 desktop and it is not a recognized device. I changed out the usb cable and still no dice. I think this thing is toast. The control panel loads but that is it. Now I have 5 vintage receivers and I cannot listen to any of my digital files on them this weekend, will have to stick with vinyl. I do have it running out of my realtek\Dell setup, but I am sure it is an inferior DAC.

Wow sorry about the troubles. That is never fun. I wonder if it is a bad contact on the USB on the ego.

Actually the solder connections on the USB might be compromised on the ego. Not fun to fix but....

Well, I got it working. I believe it was being blocked by Windows Defender....I added the emotiva control panel to allowed processes and also allowed the driver, and now it is working. I also used some deoxit/crc cleaner on the usb connection in case there was some oxidation. Anyway, I might be in trouble with my wife now because I ordered a Topping D30 after initially giving up. I do tech support all day at work and I just wanted a break: )
