I wish I could track it down with the search engine Mark ;it was only recent and nothing as definitive as a separate stand alone device although that would certainly logically make more sense considering also the similar add on tt pre amp method It was here in the last Podcast at about the 5.20 mark. Dan mentions the streaming client they are working on and that all of the new processors were designed to accept a steaming module in the form of a daughter board for DSP board. emotiva.com/blogs/info-hub-1/podcast-09-20-19Interesting...can't believe I missed that. I have had an RMC-1 for a year and enjoy it everyday. I would definitely purchase again. Still some bugs and still waiting for Dirac but it sounds fantastic and that is what matters. The problems will be fixed I am sure. They are fairly infrequent with FW 1.5 and it doesn’t take much to get things up and running again. My wife even knows how to work around the occasional glitch. If the need to reboot now and then will drive you crazy then maybe better to look elsewhere or wait to see what happens with new firmware. But if sound is what matters to you then you will not be disappointed.

This is a question for all of the RMC-1 owners... I'm considering purchasing an RMC-1. Is it worth it? Or is it a work unfinished? Do you find it rewarding? Or does it cause you constant aggravation. I'd like to get one, but I'm hesitant based on all of the problems it has. At last some positivity in a sea of negativity - hurrah!!!! Like the last few posters I use mine on a daily basis - though not in as complex a set-up as some in here (1 display and 5 sources). Without a doubt it has foibles (the same as most electronic devices I've had over the last 30 years), but boy does it make movies come to life. I had the processor for a good 3 months before I could install and reading through the threads waiting for the install date just made me all the more nervous. Thankfully I had nothing to worry about. I set up the RMC-1 approximately 6 weeks ago and I’ve had little or no issue with it in that time. I immediately updated the firmware (1.7) and it’s played anything I throw at with aplomb - it has exceeded my expectations and provides a solid base for my setup. I’ve seen none of the “audio dropouts” “failed sync” or other issues described by users. All my equipment is HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 compatible, with “Premium Certified” cables and a Ruipro fibre from Projector to Processor. Yes it can be slow when switching sources, but for me that’s a first world problem and one I can live with. My previous system had the same issue. Missing DIRAC is clearly an issue for some. I have a well treated room and all I have done is set distance and level trim and the sound is immense. Detail is wonderful and dynamic. Couldn’t be happier with my purchase. Sorry for the ramble - but to the posters question, yes it's "worth it".

everything is not as "rosy" with the rmc-1
I would not say that it is worth it, it will be worth the day or Emo will finish this processor, but for the moment in 6 months have received only one rotten update, the most pessimistic say that Dirac will never go out. if you use only Dolby digital & Dolby Atmos everything is fine, no upmix on 16 channels, no eArc, my attention to other formats, you cannot cross Dolby & DTS formats. depending on your equipment you would have to restart it several times a week to make it work and not to use. In my opinion all these re-start of the rmc and amplifier are not very good for the devices. CEC is poison for rmc.
Emotiva no longer communicates on its future development at all.
And beware of comments from "pro Emotiva" not very realistic.
The RMC-1 is a very good processor with an uncertain future,
I would say that you have to wait for Dirac and the additional cards before buying it.

In all honesty, if I had to do it over I would not buy an Emotiva processor. Yes, when it works the sound is great! The problem is that you need to roll the dice in your environment. Maybe you will be lucky and have minimal issues, or like some of us, a lot of issues. Dirac was the main reason I went down this path, and for those with long memories, there was another sound technology supposed to be used before Dirac...Dirac was a last minute change (if I remember correctly).
My XMC-1 with the original board worked fantastic after a number of firmware updates. Adding the new HDMI board bought a bunch of issues. The RMC-1 kept most of the issues and added a bunch more. For example, my XMC-1 played digital music perfectly. The RMC-1 clips the first notes off each song.
My wife is disabled and cannot get up to reboot the unit when she wants to use it, or the RMC-1s inability to HDMI sync with my Tivo Bolt (it works perfectly directly to the TV) The family acceptance factor is very low at the moment.
But, I'm still along for the ride. I really want the unit to work as promised and I want to get back to enjoying the fantastic sound the unit is capable of providing.

I also had a almost perfectly working setup while on firmware 1.5. I did the upgrade to 1.7 and Video Remains On broke. Otherwise it seemed very stable.
Now I switched to a new SAT box with 4k resolution. With this change I have noticed alot more of the problems other are having. Alot of no audio at start or when switching inputs. Sometimes even requiring a restart of RMC. Even smaller audio dropouts when watching TV.
It’s actually strange because Unix/Linux is a very stable OS with very long uptimes compared with Windows. To me it feels like bad code from Emotiva with ALOT of memory and buffer issues. They need to debug the software professionally!

FWIW, I also like the SQ. it sounds good. The problems are elsewhere.
1. Stability. Very little overall improvement in 1 year (FOR ME), actually somewhat of a regression with their latest FW rev. Still cannot watch TV-type material without it turning into a problem requiring power cycles, dropped audio, constantly switching HDMI sources to get HDMI lock or audio to work. I literally timed how long it took for me to boot the system from a cold boot and get an HDMI lock with sound: 4 minutes, 25 seconds. Some may have family members that are tolerant of the workarounds, I am not in that situation. Some do not have this problem at all, some do.
2. It's slow. Menu is slow, switching sources is slow, booting is slow. Big deal? Not really, but when you have to make switching a regular part of the experience to counter dropped audio, it starts to become annoying.
3. Non standard trigger drivers... covered fairly recently. Again, some will have no issues with this, some will.
4. Some practices are just odd for this segment... downloading FW from a dropbox account, inability to diagnose problems remotely, frequent refusal to admit that a problem COULD be on their end, pushing blame elsewhere.
5. still have problems with sounds going to wrong speakers (or not being present when it should be), etc.
6. the obvious one: Dirac. That's the whole reason I went down this path. Confidence that they will actually be able to implement this is fading quickly *for me*... make up your own mind obviously. It was promised in Q1 2019, here we are Q1 2020 and can't even get an update. it's not a "Dirac problem" according to Dirac, Dirac claims that Emotiva has had everything they need to do this for well over 40 weeks now.
7. Strange overall behavior: lockups, weird/stuck displays/wrong info on the sources, etc. And, no, this is not normal for consumer electronics products of this caliber that have been out over a year. I'm sure someone will say they have an Oppo (long considered to be a pinnacle in terms of robustness in this price range) that locked up... I can't argue that point but if I look back at all of the stuff like this I've purchased in the past 25 years, this is in a different league in terms of strange issues and quirks.
8. the remote. I really don't care that it's metal or heavy or feels "well built", I want the ability to pick out the volume buttons in the dark... it's not backlight and there's nop tactile difference in the keys. Yes, I know, people will say just use a Harmony. I have one, actually, but still don't like this and not everyone will use a 3rd party remote.
I'm sure this will be deleted... and that's fair. Maybe it will help you until then.

Moving back to v1.5 has that stability back except for the DTS problem(for which there is an easy workaround) that v1.7 fixed. As for the bootup time, I wouldn't be pleased either at 4min25sec. My RMC-1 consistently boots-up to any of my sources in 1min10sec on v1.5. As I've stated in the past, I do recognize that others are not as fortunate as my situation, but there are obviously many here that are highly pleased with their RMC-1/RMC-1L/XMC-2 and we don't spend much time on the Lounge because we are enjoying our situation. 2. Yes the GUI is not as instantaneous as we would like, but when I have the settings the way I like, I spend very little time in the GUI. In my case, set it and forget it. 3. All I can add to the triggers, is it has always worked for the various amount of power amplifiers by several well known brands that I've demoed in my setup. I do believe those few that are having problems are having problems, but I'm beginning to believe those situations are non-conventional. 5. Problems with sounds going to wrong speakers? I've not had this problem in my 7.2.4 setup, so I'm guessing your situation and setup differs from mine. 6. DIRAC 2.0 will be here when it's ready and I have no other reason to believe otherwise. I have no insider information, and I'm quite confident that I also don't have all the information necessary to make an intelligent statement regarding it's progress as to why it isn't available right now, so I won't be making any un-informed speculative guesses as that would be irresponsible when only Emotiva and DIRAC have all the facts. 7. Again, with v1.7, I had lockups(don't remember the specifics now) with just about all of my sources, Oppo UDP-203/Oppo BDP-83/Panasonic DP-UB820/AppleTV4K/Comcast STB, but when reverting back to v1.5 I don't have any problems except for the DTS problem with which I have an easy workaround. Hopefully that DTS problem will be fixed in the near future, but until then the simple press of the "Audio" button on the Oppo remote changing codecs to a Dolby track and then back to the DTS has worked like a charm. 8. The metal remote was no surprise from the beginning, and personally I have no problems using it in the dark if I need to use it. I'm used to the layout of the most often used keys so this doesn't keep me from using the GUI in the dark if I need to, which is almost never, and you're right my Harmony remotes have been my go-to remotes for quite some time since I have complete control over the "ACTIVITIES" of all the components on one remote, where the RMC-1 brick remote is only meant for changes to its GUI. As for deleting posts, I'll simply say read the Lounge Rules of Etiquette. There are many reasons posts get deleted, but this a rarity in threads where intelligent/respectful/civil conversation takes place. This thread inparticular seems to bring out the "KEYBOARD WARRIOR" in a few boisterous members. Lately, there seems to be quite a few repetitive posts and if I deem it necessary, I'll delete said posts. I've posted several times throughout this thread that tolerance of those members not following the Lounge Rules was/is quite low and consequences would occur whether it be deleting a post or losing one's posting privleges. So for those members that don't know the Lounge Rules by now, I suggest re-reading them as they are "stickied" at the top of every Lounge Section, and ignorance of these Rules isn't an excuse.

At one time I would have preferred a lighter backlit remote, but now that I've used the Harmony 650/665 that uses AA batteries and controls all of the "Activities" of the components in use, I'm hooked. Rarely do I have any use for the remotes that come with home theater components. I do however recognize preference and we all do have our own preferences.

Do you work for emotiva? I am not certain, honestly. Some of your pronouns suggest that you do. But if you do, let’s be real here, your comments about stability and how much you enjoy it really should be taken with the proper context. No doubt there are many that have no problems. We have heard from them. But those that do deserve more respect than constantly being told it’s our cables or equipment or just pointing out that others don’t have issues as a means to solve the problem. Instead, devise ways to login to customer systems and see the issues, or otherwise address them in a more reliable and faster way.. The current replies does absolutely nothing for those having issues. In fact it just makes them angry in most cases. Anyway this has all been discussed before. Are you joking about he comment about sounds not going to the correct speakers? Is that a serious comment? Emotiva even gave a unit to a reviewer who found the same problem. They were told it would be fixed. Well, here we are, still.. Regarding Dirac, your comment doesn’t help me at all. It would great if whomever speaks for emotiva stops saying “when it gets here” and gives a date. Emotiva told me it would be easy in Q1 2019 when I bought it, I’m tired of waiting. I realize crap happens, but regroup and make a commitment. Pick a date and be accountable. If you’ve had the code from Dirac for over 40 weeks, why is there nothing to show for it? Explain it to me like I’m a kid if you must.

But if you do, honestly, let’s be real here, your comments about stability and how much you enjoy it really should be taken with the proper context. If you’ve have the code from Dirac for over 40 weeks, why is there nothing to show for it? Explain it to me like I’m a kid if you must. If I worked for Emotiva would I have stated that "I have no insider information"? I am a volunteer Moderator that's here to keep the peace, nothing more. 40 weeks??? that would be approximately 10 months, and I have read posts on another forum from a person in the know from Dirac that doesn't agree with your timeline.

Ok, it’s curious then why you use certain pronouns, it would seem that you’re working with them. April 2019 m.facebook.com/DiracResearch/posts/2285891241461492Clearly states it’s in emotiva hands. Do you not agree?

Do you not agree? .........no I wouldn't agree. Initial question you linked to was April 25, 2019, Next answer by Dirac was July 15, 2019 that stated, "This is totally up to Emotiva to answer". Also, on July 18 in this thread Lonnie stated: A NOTE ABOUT DIRAC ROOM CORRECTION We are working diligently to prepare for the final API from Dirac. Our goal is to have everything in place so once we get it, we will be able to implement it ASAP and get it in your hands. Then on Sept 27 a post by Lonnie, Lonnie, appreciate if you give us some update on Dirac progress and expected date of firmware upgrade. From our side we have the interface code written and in house testing looks great. Dirac has given us a partial API for the ADI chips which we are currently integrating into the DSPs. The Dirac code as written wants to use a large church of memory that is reserved for the renderer, but this is not the end of the world. We are remapping the memory stack and should have this going in a few days. Once that gets done we will be in a position where we can simulate what is going on and run operational test. This will put us in great shape for when Dirac delivers the full API. Lonnie From what I'm reading at this point, DIRAC still hadn't delivered the full API. Next update was from the Emotiva Open House just two months ago, and from what we were told there was only a 2 channel API available.

Either way you slice it has been many many months since the communication from Dirac implies that it’s in the hands of emotiva All posts from Dirac clearly say that only Emotiva can answer when it will be ready. Am I the only one who reads it like that? In any case this is just silly. Why can’t someone from emotiva who is knowledgeable of the situation simply give a real update? Tell us what’s still open, when things are anticipated to be ready, etc, Finally I didn’t buy a bag of goods from Dirac and emotiva, I bought something from emotiva. Emotiva should be representing and updating the status to its customers who bought the unit with the understanding that it was just around the corner.

1. Stability for me has been exceptionally good until I tried out firmware v1.7 which did give me lockups on several sources. Explain it to me like I’m a kid if you must. As far as Dirac I think that Emotiva was not really ready to have to build as much code as they actually have to. Seems like Dirac under delivered what they told Emotiva and Emotiva has to take over a bunch of the coding. IDK if Emotiva fully has the staff the churn out this software at least in a fairly timely manner.

It’s actually strange because Unix/Linux is a very stable OS with very long uptimes compared with Windows. To me it feels like bad code from Emotiva with ALOT of memory and buffer issues. They need to debug the software professionally! Keil L has announced it several times: "Emotiva is not a software company" so by the time they do not outsource or hire a qualified person to program the code for the 3 processors, it will be buggy. There are so many good programmers in this world ... and especially the Stats. I can not understand. Because the development of the processor is on standby only because of this code. Right now we should all have a 98% functional device with Dirac and extension modules. Our only expectation should be Dirac BM and DTS: X pro for the next few months.

1. Stability for me has been exceptionally good until I tried out firmware v1.7 which did give me lockups on several sources. Moving back to v1.5 has that stability back except for the DTS problem(for which there is an easy workaround) that v1.7 fixed. As for the bootup time, I wouldn't be pleased either at 4min25sec. Emo to publish a rotten firmware ... low it does not matter we come back to 1.5.I do not know if it is a difference in culture but in France in this case we apologize and we reassure his customers have not let who can assure me that my RMC-1 will one day have Dirac, Dirac BM extension modules for which I have paid? If 100% of the owners displayed their discontent, I think Emo would act differently.
