I am an ERT 8.3 (pair) owner and am wondering how these compare with the newer Airmotiv T2s. In a nutshell, I'd like to understand if the Airmotiv T2s would be an upgrade or not. If anyone has compared these two speaker lines and would care to share their impressions, I'd greatly appreciate it. Also, if there is an existing thread with this information, please provide the link.

I have heard both at Emofest but never heard them side by side. I really loved the 8.3's each time I heard them - they could handle tons of power and play louder than I would ever want with not problem. Yet, even when not pushed, they sounded great. The T2's sound every bit as good as I recall the 8.3's, and my bet would be that I'd prefer the upper end of the T2's over the 8.3's if I were to hear them again in the same room. But, that's just a bet. geebo or some of the other folks on the lounge might have better info. Mark

The T2's are small towers, smaller than the pictures suggest. I thought they sounded great. But by what I've read, so did the 8.3

capn... here are my thoughts from an older thread on the same subject... " I owned the 8.3's prior to my T2's and, yes, I think it's worth an upgrade.
Without getting into all of the colorful language, I find the T2 to possess an extended and more detailed high end without venturing into the realm of sounding "bright" or "harsh". Midrange is open and a bit more defined without sounding awkwardly "forward". The bass digs a bit deeper and is more detailed (especially in the mid-bass region). The 8.3 is a really good speaker, but the T2 undoubtedly takes it up a notch.
Keep in mind that these are rear-ported. So, you'll need some air between the back of the enclosure and the wall for optimal performance. For music, especially, I think you'll find these better than the 8.3." HERE is a link to the entire thread. Keep in mind that the new T0 (zero) is in the pipeline and due to hit the cart very soon. They can be seen in a photo on the front page of Emotiva's website. They're flanking a fireplace. Dan, himself, loves this new addition. If you already have a subwoofer to cover the extreme low end, this may also be an option that could save you quite a few bucks. Hope this helps...

I owned the 8.3's before getting the T2's. There is a noticeable improvement especially at the lower and upper extremes when compared to the 8.3's. I'm very happy that I made the switch. I would have to mirror what Doc said above.
