While the XMC-1 offers both, it has features at a cost that are not needed (for my application, i.e. no need for tuner...)
Q 1) Any chance of providing a MC-700B (balanced unit) with a line out for recording? Seems like there is an opportunity for price point between the $699 and $2499, perhaps $1499? I'd be a buyer along with your custom config multi amp
Q 2) if not, how/where to tap into MC-700 before pre-amp to get a line out- thanks

I’d also say if a unit like this is in the plans, it’s likely a long way off. Rather than hoping for a new model to emerge, I’d consider one of the used XMC-1’s appearing on the market as they’re replaced with RMC-1’s (or other models).

(thought I posted this but didn't see it?)
As they say, if you don't ask...
For all of us 'lost our way' audiophiles with reel-to-reel / other recording units, I'd suggest an option for a tape out would be appreciated (even at a higher cost)...
Additoinally, I'd respectively suggest that the trend (and demand) for higher-end equipment is towards balanced, whereas the trend for tuners is bye-bye..

You don’t even need to have reel to reel to need a Tape Out, I use it to make needle drops to my Mac mini (it could also be used to drive a Zone amp). It’s been discussed a lot around here and some of us are going to miss it, but we haven’t seemed to have an influence on it being included. As for balanced outputs, many also agree, but probably more feel that one way to make a less expensive XMC-1 would be to drop the balanced inputs and outputs, and probably some other features (maybe Dirac?). I realize you’re asking for a more expensive 700, not a less expensive XMC-1, but the TI platform the XMC-1 is based on is probably more viable for a future processor like you describe, rather than the Cirrus the MC-700 uses. I think the tuner is generally considered to be a very low cost feature that’s part of one of the chipsets. But as you say, it doesn’t hurt to ask. BTW, Welcome to the Lounge!
