I don't need (or want to pay for) anyone's "weirdo-wire," but I do want the highest quality I can get at a reasonable price.
Since the XLR design inherently rejects noise, I'd think that shielding would be somewhat less critical than with unbalanced RCAs, but I may be wrong.
In the past, I've used Blue Jeans, Kimber, Carnare, and "pro" brands such as "Road Hogg." I've not heard any significant difference that I can recall, so are "pro" XLRs sufficient? They're certainly cheaper!
Thanks - Boomzilla

I have some from Emotiva, Monoprice, and Parts Express. The Emotiva ones are the only ones that don't create a random channel fault with my XPA-5, so I use Emotiva exclusively with the XPA-5.
The parts express ones work fine with my sub and my nCores. I've not tried the Monoprice ones with either of those because they are all 0.5 meter...not nearly long enough to reach!

I use Mogami snakes with Neutrik connectors. I friend of mine that does sound for various broadway shows recommended them to me.

I use Mogami snakes with Neutrik connectors. I friend of mine that does sound for various broadway shows recommended them to me. I’ve looked around a fair amount comparing snakes and from what I can tell Mogami is very well regarded for pro/touring audio. They seem pretty well built. I’m a big fan of Neutrik - theyre robust. I think they’re a good example of “you get what you pay for”.

If they are good enough for a multi-million dollar production show, they are more than good enough for me.

If they are good enough for a multi-million dollar production show, they are more than good enough for me. Especially shows where time is money and troubleshooting crappy cables could be a very expensive problem!

Monoprice pro XLR line all the way. Cheap, look good, and sound great. Did I mention that they looked good...we use them exclusively in all our installs.

No real need to spend more. 16ga OFC and have connectors that can be opened if you ever need/want to - better than the molded ends for sure. No issues with mine and the music sounds fine.

In the sanity price range (ie Monoprice, blue jeans, etc.) it’s harder to find XLR’s that are NOT up to the task as opposed to the latter.

Hmmm, looks like they went to molded ends on the connectors for those.

I have only used the Emotiva and Monoprice XLR and so far have had no issues. I would say anything built with Canare or Mogami wire is going to end up in a quality product.

Hmmm, looks like they went to molded ends on the connectors for those. I've never even seen the Stage Right before your post. The molded XLR you posted are the ones I have always used with great success.

I second ProAudioLA! These guys make great product and gave me great customer service. Great pricing too. They are actually about a 10 minute drive from my house. I know this doesn't apply to most/any here but I ordered some XLR cables on a Saturday and I was able to pick them up two hours later. I plan on having them make me new cables to replace what I'm currently using for my XPA-5. I'm using their XLRs for my XPA-2, Oppo 205 and my subwoofer.
