PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING NOTES CAREFULLY:
UPDATE!!! - THIS FIRMWARE WILL *ONLY* WORK WITH THE NEW HDMI 2.0b BOARD
- This firmware version will work with BOTH the original HDMI v1.4b video card AND the new HDMI 2.0b video Upgrade Board (and the interim v2 HDMI board).
- This firmware update file will detect which video card is installed in your unit and install the correct firmware version.
(So it MAY be installed on an XMC-1 with either version of the HDMI card installed.)
If you have an older HDMI card it will install Firmware v4.1
If you have an HDMI 2.0b HDMI card it will install Firmware v5.4
- YOU CANNOT USE THIS FIRMWARE UPDATER TO INSTALL YOUR HDMI 2.0b UPGRADE BOARD!
(The update procedure requires a special version of the firmware updater that is able to install the new firmware while the original HDMI board is still installed.
If you are installing the HDMI 2.0b Upgrade board at home, YOU MUST USE THE SPECIAL UPGRADE FIRMWARE TO INSTALL THE BOARD;
feel free to upgrade to this version later.)
Here is the list of issues that this update addresses (most of which were addressed in v5.4 beta2):
- FIXED ISSUE: HDR video “banding”
- FIXED ISSUE: 24dB slope setting for subwoofer does not survive cold boot
- FIXED ISSUE: Incorrect video status when using internal black screen.
- FIXED ISSUE: Display incorrectly showed Reference Stereo mode when other modes were actually selected (in auto)
(the issue was confirmed with dtsHD5.1; probably happened with others as well)
(this was just a minor issue with the status display; the mode was actually handled correctly; it was just DISPLAYED incorrectly)
- ADDRESSED ISSUE: Boot up issues with older Sony Blu Ray players
(we hope this will also help with other random complaints about operability with older players, cable boxes, dish network, etc.)
This update also addressed a few minor issues that cropped up in v5.4 beta 1:
- FIXED ISSUE with Dirac Preset being missing from several menu option lists
UPDATE NOTES:
1)
The download itself may arrive as a ZIP archive (depending on your browser), so you will need to download the ZIP archive, then extract the file inside.
The file you want is named: XMCupdate-2018_12_06_v5-4.dat
To install this update simply place the update file in the main folder of a USB stick and do a SETUP | ADVANCED | FIRMWARE UPDATE.
You should also ensure that this is the ONLY FILE in the main folder of your USB stick.
(If you wish to archive other versions of the XMC-1 firmware on your USB stick - BE SURE TO PUT THEM IN A SUB FOLDER.)
2)
*** IMPORTANT ***
AFTER THIS FIRMWARE UPDATE IS PERFORMED WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU RESET ALL THE HDMI DEVICES YOU HAVE CONNECTED TO THE XMC-1.
TO DO THIS YOU MUST PHYSICALLY UNPLUG THE AC POWER ON THE XMC-1, YOUR TV, AND ANY OTHER HDMI DEVICES YOU HAVE CONNECTED TO YOUR XMC-1.
Everything must be unplugged AT THE SAME TIME for at least ten seconds.
It is NOT sufficient to simply place your devices in Standby, many devices cannot be turned fully off, and many devices cannot be rebooted without unplugging them.
It is not sufficient to unplug your devices one at a time.
You must unplug them all, so they are all unplugged at the same time, count to ten slowly, then plug them all back in.
This will ensure that all of your devices go through a full reboot.
(We no longer REQUIRE this but, if you have ANY problems, then you should do it.)
RELEASE NOTES FROM ENGINEERING :
If you have already installed Firmware Update 5.4 beta 2 then this update will NOT make a significant difference.
Otherwise it is recommended.
