a; Do you notice significant, i.e noticeable, high frequency roll-off, and if so, at what approximate frequency?I b; Does it indeed sound more analogue/ less digital? I have a Meridian Explorer, Explorer2 and the Director. a: Yes, the high frequencies don't go on forever like all the "revealing" DACs or those considered "accurate" which is such a flawed concept and term I hate to even use it. b: Much smoother to my ears. There's not a hint of any grain and I think these DACs are gentler on the ears but have me tapping my toes constantly. I prefer the Meridian DAC sound over the 4 Emotiva DACs I have owned over the years (XDA-2, DC-1, Big Ego, Little Ego). And, yes, I am perfectly okay that I might be missing some of the music but I tend to get fatigued from "accurate" DACs and much of the music to which I listen is horribly mastered - glare, forward, bright. I really do love how Meridian voices their DACs.
