Right now I have xpa 2 Gen 2 powering front left and right in my home theater, and a upa 1 doing the centre. Would I notice a difference going to a Gen 3 amp that has 3 mono modules and 1 stereo module and use that to power the front 3? Speakers are focal aria 926 with matching Centre channel. Strictly home theatre. Asking as I found one used for sale that’s only 4 months old. I’m also looking to add a 2 channel Amp to my main floor setup and I could move my xpa 2 Gen 2 up there.

I’ve been looking at a used one on Canuck audiomart recently as well But after an in depth chat with a few previous gen3 owners I’ve decided I’ll pass on it.
I read through the entire gen3 section here the other day. Only a handful of happy owners. It seems that even from some “rather unbiased” people I’ve talked with the gen3 looks like a step backwards for Emotiva. HOWEVER, in the end only you can decide if it’s an upgrade, downgrade or lateral move. Good luck.

I've heard both (though it was two mono modules for the gen 3). I wouldn't do it.

My XPA2 Gen 3 sounds better than my old XPA-5 and every bit as good as my old XPA2 Gen 1 and XPA1L's did. And it runs much cooler than all of them, too.

I want to make sure my purchase will last a long time. The price of a new one vs the price he is asking is pretty cheap and is only 2 months old. I haven’t read up on any Gen 3 stuff yet

I’m in the same boat. I want my next set of amps to be my endgame for quite a while.

That’s why I was like ok what’s wrong with it lol. Maybe I should wait for a Gen 1 or 2 to come up for sale then.

Got the Dr-1s monos to replace my xpr-1s that i decided to sell because one of them stop working. They sounded a little thin and couldn’t drive my epicons with the same authority as the xpr-1s. Got Bryston instead and couldn’t be happier

Makes me wonder what the seller's reason is for letting it go after only 2 months...
