Anyone know why the MC-700 does a fizz/fuzz into a loud pop when changing from 2 channel PCM into Muli-Channel PCM?
I have been forced into using the OPPO for audio, due to the MC700 not actually doing anything with lip-sync when using standard audio out into the preamp. I would try getting a later firmware but as many others have noticed, you'll need an army of USB sticks that may or may not work.
Thanks in advance!

The short answer is because Emotiva couldn't give two squirts of piss to care enough to fix MC700 issues.
I could post a few back and forth emails from Emotiva where they basically told me that issues would not or could not be fixed. I have had audio drops, popping noises, lip-sync issues, straight up incompatibility with 4k formats, the device locking up when certain 4k formats are used, etc. They don't care at all and strung me along for months waiting for answers. The response was always that they didn't have time to look at my issues. They never offered to take my unit back and even see if it was defective. Nothing was offered to me for my problems, and it was all blamed on HDMI incompatibility with common devices such as a Sony bluray player, an Xbox 360, Sony PS3, Sony PS4, and a Chromecast Ultra. This has resulted in me vowing to never spend another cent on Emotiva, so I suggest you cut your losses and ditch the MC700 as soon as possible.

I owned an Outlaw Audio 970 that had a similar issue that couldn't be fixed. It was at the chip level and discovered after release. Unfortunately sometimes things like this happen to small companies.
I'm not defending Emotiva, in fact that issue caused me to find the Emotiva brand although I have yet to buy an Emotiva processor.

This issue have Emotiva known for ages and its because of Hdmi board they use in the unit. Got recommended to use Spdif instead but problem are it only have 1 input so if you need it to more then 1 device you cant resolve it completly. HDCP drop outs on start up are also a known problem only happens some times and then you need to restart that device and its solved and you get pitchure. They have the fuzz sound problem on UMC-200 and resolved it so because of that i thoought a fix would come in the end, but feels like they drop the ball and will not resolve it,
