Emotiva always seems to offer a product with a little extra and something you can't get in a like product by someone else. Like the XSP-1 G2. How many years ago was that? I saw a review that was over 5 years old. Amp unlike DAC's can last a lifetime but DAC's need to be updated at least every few years. Interesting. Though the performance has clearly skyrocketted, I see DACs as being some of the most stable digital items. My DC-1 uses tech and connectors that was present in the year 2000 and is still running with my 4k HDMI 2.0 HDR-10 setup and is the heart of my media center. Yes it did require a 4k HDMI to SPDIF convertor adapter which was $40. But compare that with the cost of upgrading a HDMI 1.4 AVR to an HDMI 2.0b. No comparison. Now there are several current generation gear that produces measurements that are just ridiculous - so yes, in that term the older generation can't compete. But in terms of still providing great audio, most of these dacs have been able to last. So perhaps you are right. But it's possible this might be the last generation of DACs - or at least one before the last as they are getting at 24 bits of linearity and resolution. I've seen quite a few of the newer generation already having insane noise floors of a -130 db.

Nothing on the ERC4 to hook a computer up to on the digital inputs +1 ...and why USB OUT? So I can run a beautifully converted digital signal into my schiit-y computer DAC to be Re-converted? Please enlighten me, I don't understand the purpose.

I believe he was talking about hooks a PC out to the ERC-4...as in, running USB out from his PC to the ERC-4 if it had a USB input so he could use the ERC-4's DACs. Mark

I mistook the white, optical out for a usb-b out connection. Time for a new eyeglass prescription.

If I want to do it now I plug my HDMI port into my TV and use the DAC with analog/RCA out to the preamp. I also have a UFO-202 that could go to the pre.

I know the Emotiva engineers have been busy on the MC’s but to not have one single DAC in their product range is an amazing situation. Not that long ago we had a choice of 4 DAC’s, right now we have none. Over the last 2 weeks I have pointed people in the direction of used Emotiva DAC’s because there are no new ones to buy. Surely they must be losing sales every day by not offering a single product in a popular market. What’s going on Lonnie or KeithL? Cheers Gary

I think the RMC-1 dac function works.... And I think $5K is an absurd amount of money to pay if all one wants/needs is a DAC. Are you saying Emotiva should abandon its stated goal of providing a line of affordable audio components?

First let’s see if Emotiva can survive the recession.
