Anyone else with me? HGTV apparently bailed this year and left it up to NBC, ABC and Hallmark, and WOW, what a bunch of crap. ABC and NBC'S picture is totally washed out with blinding whites. NONE of the 3 channels is really truly high def. There is no detail on any of them like HGTV has always had. More proof 4K means crap if the source material sucks, because my non-4K TV has capabilities WAY past what I'm watching now.
The coverage on Hallmark is horrible. Total jerk offs. NBC is better, but not by much. ABC is by far the best coverage this year, still showing behind the scenes and talking about how the floats are made.
Please tell me I am not the only one who noticed this.

Forgot to mention sound quality. Hallmark was horrible. Talked all over the bands and music. At some points, no music played. NBC was okay, but ABC was much better.
ABC announcers were easily the best.
Hallmark only won the lack of commercials thing.
Otherwise, ABC was it.
But lost horribly to HGTV of past years. A HUGE WTF?

I live local to the Rose Parade, it's maybe a 30 min drive away me. Here the local KTLA channel 5 has always been THE Rose Parade station, coverage starts a couple hours before the parade begins and there are no commercials during the live coverage and the parade is replayed all day long. It really is the channel to watch the Rose Parade on and the Rose Parade is about the only time I ever watch KTLA channel 5 anymore.
The only bad thing is the broadcast announcers Bob Eubanks and Stefanie Edwards who had hosted the Parade on KTLA for as long as I can remember finally retired a year or two ago and it really doesn't seem the same without them announcing.

We used to go to the Rose Bowl Parade every year with 5 other families who lived in our neighborhood in Southern California - did it for 10 years running. What a great parade and a good family tradition. My wife and kids even worked on the floats for a couple of years through their school.
After the parade we'd go to Art's Deli in Studio City and then go home to watch the rerun of the parade on KTLA. I looked for the parade on HGTV this morning and was surprised it wasn't there. I did find the NBC and ABC broadcasts and agree that ABC was the best.
Growing up in Ohio we always watched the parade and the Rose Bowl game on TV and it seemed it was always so cold and grey in Ohio and so sunny and warm in Pasadena. Always felt fortunate that I eventually got to go to the parade and see football games at the Rose Bowl....and the parade was even more incredible seeing it in person.
