I'm having a headache with DTV audio drop outs & had the problem since they "upgraded" the DVR to server client Genie II.
With the equipment I presently own/use, the problem is only with DTV. There are hundreds of postings all over the net about the problem that DTV refuses to correct. (sounds like a class action to me, but another issue) Someone here stated "They (DTV) play fast & loose with HDMI", never a truer statement.
I'm have the Genie crap removed and go back to DVR units HR44 @ 1080p. We have no desire for their 4k content (too much compress- uncompress signal)
We had a tech come out Saturday, he acknowledge the problem.with Genie II. He also stated his hypothesis: the Mini's have weaker HDMI output power compared to DVR units.
Other reports are HDCP timing being out-of-spec on DTV units to A/V receivers.
That made sense to me because Minis direct to TV monitors usually don't have audio drops, but as soon as any preamp is introduced into the chain, the problem appears and sometimes video problems are added. The only way I can get audio without audio drop outs (90+%) is to use coax out from minis to any preamp.
I was wondering if anyone has tried a HDMI Signal Booster/ Repeater to fix the issue. I understand those are built for long cable run amplification of video, would it also boast audio?
I posted last month my plan to get a new XMC. If I can't get present equipment to work, it would be unfair to judge if the XMC's video board "issues" applied to my system also. So I postponed my purchase.
Is anyone using a HDMI Signal Booster, Repeater? the results?
