Hey guys, I do not own any of the Gen 3 products nor any A-series amps.
I have a friend that just bought an A-300 this week, got it home tried it out. He is already the owner of Parasound and Outlaw Amps and 99db efficient Klipsch speakers. He is annoyed to think when he turned the stereo down to change a cd that there was audible noise coming from an internal fan. Why would a fan even be coming on in this case? I have owned several UPA-2 amps which to me would be the equivalent, what was the point of added a fan?
By the way, it sounds like he is going to return the amp and get another pair of Outlaws by the sounds of it. So glad I referred him to buying an Emotiva....not

Have you looked at the internals of those amps ? Zero heat sink dude.. Gotta use active cooling so it doesn’t cook itself.
Or he’s got a faulty unit.

Or he’s got a faulty unit. My bad. I was thinking of something else wth no heatsink. I agree, he may have a faulty unit. Once again, just like the A-5175 with the problems that friends of mine had to return and be repaired...right after purchase it doesn't exactly scream confidence. I assure you, if Randy returns it...he won't be taking another one. I wonder how many people out there are going through exactly what Randy is going through.

One would think that these fans would be the lowest sones possible. Heck even I bought super quiet computer fans for my pc's and my rack. As for my A-700, I've never heard its fan engage but then again it is in a rack. Where's Randy's amp located?

There have been several reports of A-300 fan issues. Quality control is lacking for Emo. (and we wont even mention Firmware / Software issues)

Maybe you were looking at the PA-1.
Class-D. ICEPower module. Runs cold. No heat sink. (Not active cooling - just very efficient.) 140 watts into 8 Ohms; 300 watts into 4 Ohms.
Or he’s got a faulty unit. My bad. I was thinking of something else wth no heatsink. Attachments:

The A_300 fan is not supposed to turn on except under serious load. So I wager there's something wrong. Another reason I like my XPA-1 gen 2's - pushes out HUGE amounts of heat in class A something like 200 watts or so and doesn't berak a sweat.

Sounds like he was going to pack it up and send it back for a refund.

I think for the fact that he has Parasound and Outlaw amps that work seamlessly and quietly he is going to buy another pair of Outlaw.

After chatting with the owner of the A-300 this morning he is returning the amp. He now has static coming from the right channel. Very disappointed with Emotiva at this point and vows to never buy another product from them.
Now another unhappy camper posting about their Emotiva order, here is a copy and paste of their beef:
Is anyone in the same boat as me? I placed an order with Emotiva before thanksgiving and only recently received half my order.(A-300, BTM-1, and cables). I’m still waiting on my PT-100 and BTR-1 which Emotiva told me they couldn’t give me an estimated ship date yet. I was told the government shutdown was at fault but now it’s over 2 months and getting a bit impatient. Just curious if anyone else is having the same issue.
Sorry, but this should not be happening if Emotiva wants to keep their lights on

They can't send him an actual new replacement....because they don't have any...

Just to be clear here... the delays we're experiencing are mostly due to delays in CUSTOMS. (And, if anything, we're less happy about them than you are.)
Since we haven't experienced this sort of delays in the past we've been assuming that the shutdown is at least partially responsible. However, we are simply at the mercy of the government when it comes to customs delays, so all we can do is wait for them to do their jobs and start things moving again. (We expect to have everything we're waiting for within about a week from the time when the customs delays are lifted.)
We do apologize.... but obviously we would very much like to have product to ship to our customers.
