Thinking of grabbing a pair locally for $175 bucks.....other than YouTube video reviews I've never actually heard them. Anyone have experience good / bad with these? I know our ears are all different, but thinking of buying these to toss into a backup basement system. They come with stands.....so I got that going for me, which is nice....Thx, Scott.

I had a pair of these for a while. I found them to be a bit brittle in the high end. However, they’re like the Honda Accord of speakers. You can buy them, use them for a while, and sell them for as much or more than you paid for them. See what they’re going for on eBay and if the price is right, go for it. If you don’t like them, sell them and maybe keep the stands.

Great with Tubes. I ran Conrad Johnson, Prima Luna and dug the 602. The S1 was milder than the S2. Sold a gazillion of both of them. Watch your system compliment. Nothing too vivid and life is good. 601 and 602 made my clients and me most happy.

I don't have tubes.....most likely be using B&K amp with a Yamaha pre-amp, Arcam alpha 8 tuner & Music Hall CD25 player.....I have read that these things will reveal any crappy input.

I've just replaced them this weekend (mine are also for sale ). I liked them. Had a center from the same series with them in my theater for awhile, but replaced them. Then the LR moved to the 2-channel setup (vinyl). They sounded good with a vintage Marantz 2235b receiver. At Christmas I received a Jolida 40w tube amp, and they still sounded good. The one thing I always longed for was more low end (they're bookshelves, so they're limited by design). I don't have a sub in my 2ch setup. I debated for a long time whether or not to add a sub or upgrade the speakers. It really boiled down to what I saw become available. This weekend I found a great deal on a pair of Definitive Technology BP-20 towers, so I picked them up. The B&W sounded good. These are in a different class, but they should be, based on design and the price point these were originally in. The 602's got a lot of use, and a lot of enjoyment. $175 seems a pretty decent price.

Yes, and for such a reasonable price, they are so honest. Source and the electronics will really matter ahead of this speaker. But once they get that just right setup, these will please no end.

I'm no fan of B&W speakers, but for that $175 price, how can you lose?

I've got a full set of 600-S2 speakers (pair of 605's for the fronts/stereo, LCR6, pair of 602 for the rear). Primary listening is home theater followed by music (fronts in stereo). I used to power the setup with a B&K AVR-202, and now use Emotiva power (RMC-1 & XPA-5).
I've never used the 602 as primary speakers (fronts or stereo setups). However, they have served really well as my rear speakers. Also I have played a fair amount of music through them with dts CD's and music videos, as well as using the "All Stereo" mode on the RMC-1.
At that price I would seriously consider them... If they come with the actual B&W stands I would snatch them up pronto!!!
