I just bought some B1's and am looking for something to drive them with. I am thinking about the Marantz MR1608 because of my space limitations. I'm wondering if this will be enough to power them. Any thoughts?

Any thoughts? Are you needing a surround receiver or just something for 2 channels, if just for 2 channels the TA-100 from Emotiva is a no brainer, amazing price for the performance, I think a member even has one here on the Emporium for $299. emotiva.com/collections/pre-amps/products/ta-100

Yes, I just need two channels. I'll look into the TA-100 amp. Thanks

Thanks Garbulky. Anybody else have any thoughts on the Marantz MR1608 vs. the Emotiva TA-100? The power ratings appear similar on both of these.

Thanks Garbulky. Anybody else have any thoughts on the Marantz MR1608 vs. the Emotiva TA-100? The power ratings appear similar on both of these. It's not all about the power even though they are rated similar the TA-100 from my experience sounds really good though I obviously can't compare the Marantz but from my past experience low end receivers cannot compare in sound quality to integrated amp such as the TA-100.

I see you mentioned space limitations. I assume you are also limited budget wise. But if you are not... A used DC-1 ($350) coupled to a pair of PA-1 monoblocks (300 each) will get you a really small really light system that sounds fantastic for less than a grand.

Thanks Garbulky. Anybody else have any thoughts on the Marantz MR1608 vs. the Emotiva TA-100? The power ratings appear similar on both of these. Haven't heard either but the lower-end Marantz have a reputation of poor musicality which I would attribute mostly to the preamp. Emo makes great sounding preamps at all price points. I wouldn't even consider the Marantz, if it were me.

Thanks for all of the feedback guys. This is really useful information. It sounds like the Emotiva TA-100 is just a higher quality and much more musical amp.

Thanks for all of the feedback guys. This is really useful information. It sounds like the Emotiva TA-100 is just a higher quality and much more musical amp. What made me reccomend it is that I've heard the PT-100. And I thought the PT-100 DAC was close to the sound quality of the DC-1 (though not its equal).

I will look at the PT-100 option as well. Thanks again.

I will look at the PT-100 option as well. Thanks again. Sorry, I guess you were recommending the DC-1 Garbulky, not the PT-100. I will take a look at it.

I will look at the PT-100 option as well. Thanks again. Just remember the PT-100 is only a preamp, it doesn't have a built in amplifier like the TA-100.
