That started when Oppo stopped making their Blu-ray players...

Is Samsung anticipating still making 4K disc players?

Not in the USA, Boom.
This also makes you wonder about the fate of HDR10+ Which Samsung created as a direct competitor to Dolby Vision.

Yeah I saw that yesterday. I lost count of how many players I’ve bought since the “beginning”. If I were to dwell on this stuff too much, it might blow my head apart. Bill

The manufacturers of UHD players I own have now both dropped out of the market. I have a lot of Emotiva stuff; what does that imply?

I kind of knew it was over when Sony stopped making BluRay megachangers. Ironically, I sold mine for full retail, but they're on eBay now for 3x what I paid.
The market is dying very quickly.

Once a couple more manufacturers stop making them discs will quickly follow! The only thing faster then that will be the price of streaming videos!

Oppo was a very small player in the overall market. I don't know Samsung's market share but suspect it was small and they decided to focus more on their core product lines; I suspect phones are number one, and sales were down, so they were looking to cut costs and boost profits. That said, I am not into streaming videos, so am biased against the loss of physical media...

I used to have a Samsung oven/range - they're HUGE and do a lot more than must electronics (by the way, that oven died after 3 years - really bad quality)

I have a real world NEED for physical discs since high bandwidth Internet is not available to me. No good source for streaming here. If the Panasonic players would add SACD capability, I'd have one already!

If the Panasonic players would add SACD capability, I'd have one already! No reason you can't have both. Both discs and streaming? Or both UHD and SACD capability? The Internet limitation in this area will keep me from streaming. And I could buy a Sony player now that has both UHD and SACD capability. I like what I read about the Panasonic players a bit better for video quality, so prefer to go that route. I'll probably end up with a Sony, but could also buy a Panasonic for video use and an inexpensive Sony for audio use. I have to get closer to finishing my theater before making that decision. Cheers! Chuck Sorry for my lack of clarity. What I intended to mean is 2 disc players. You could buy both and use them for different things. Or by the new Panny and get a used something or another for the SACDs. I actually have 5 devices in my rack that spin discs. Definitely redundant, but they all offer features others don't. -VCR / DVD-recorder -CD Player -CD Recorder -Denon DVD Universal Player -Oppo 105 Bluray I bought the Oppo thinking it would replace both my Panny Bluray player and the Denon, BUT, the Oppo does not sound as good as the Denon, so I'm leaving the Denon alone for the moment for critical listening (sounds awesome and built like a tank, more so than the Oppo). I use the old CD player in tandem with the CD-Recorder because of how ergonomic and easy to use it is (unlike the Oppo or Denon).

wilburthegoose Wow, I had no idea there was such a thing as a BRD changer. Looks like a monster of a machine. Pretty cool.

There is one really bad thing to know about these machines though Rumpelstiltskin, I mean Loop 7 😀, is that if someone walks off with the machine they also get 300 of your Blurays. That's no good.

What I see is something I said several years ago coming true, that 4K discs will be the last physical disc format. Once 4K streaming becomes the norm, thats it.
I wouldn't mind it so much if TV would / could adopt the higher rez sounds to go along with it. The fact that most TV is still only sent out as DD 5.1 is pathetic.

Until 8k TVs become the norm and money can be made on 8k players and discs. Seriously, if streaming is going to be it, I want the best quality pic and sound possible. Can we have that?
