Has anyone here seen any DIY threads on modifying the LEDs on this great DAC?
Not talking about the display, just the other lights around things like volume and input selections. I have it on DIM1 and they are still too bright. Anyone done this?

I have never opened up the box, but I'd bet it wouldn't be easy. The LED's are probably surface mount devices. You may be able to cut the brightness with some kind of neutral density film applied to the components, but an electrical mod would be a lot more dicey.

I just took the cover off and it looks like there is a long PCB that is right up against the front face. Looks like it will probably be surface mount leds as you predicted. That's an interesting idea to use some ND film, I think I may persue that. Reason I want to mod the lights is that I've just recently compared this DAC at home to the Chord Qutest and the Rega DAC-R and I cannot tell the difference. This DAC is either really great or I'm not listening to the right stuff. :-)

The XDA-2 is an excellent DAC. I've had 4-5 DACs over the past 5 years, I'll stick with the XDA-2.
