I've been looking to upgrade to Emotiva for a while. I currently have a Denon X3400H 7.2 Receiver. My room is 13x19 and I sit about 11-12' from my screen. I currently have some Elemental Design speakers I'm not happy with. I've posted on the AVS forum and have received some mixed statements, so thought I'd try here.
I want to upgrade to the T1 or the T-Zero Towers and the C2 center. I have two SVS 12" Subs, so I'll have my receiver crossed over at 80Hz or so.
1- Will I gain anything from the T1s over the T-Zeros for a 13x9 Room with two SVS Subwoofers?
2- My biggest question. The Denon X3400H is rated from 4-16 ohms. However, some folks are telling me the Emotiva will be fine except at Loud levels. This is a dedicated movie room, so I'll be listening at -10 to -5dB. Loud for most people, but not quite reference. Some are telling me that my receiver will most likely shut off at loud levels. Others are telling me they have Denon models less than mine that are fine. Will I have any issues driving my LCR at 4 Ohms? Will this receiver handle them well?
3- Do these speakers sound any different (better or worse) with the speaker covers on or off?
4- I also plan to upgrade, at some point, to some Emotiva Surrounds. I'm currently using cheap Polk bookshelf speakers and they stick out from the wall too far and always afraid someone will run into the corner of them. The E1s are not as deep and would work well. If #2 above is OK running my LCR at 4 Ohms with the Denon X3400h, will it work equally as well adding in 2 surrounds and 2 rear 4 ohm speakers?
5- Last Question. My current setup, my Center speaker sits low to the ground. It sits on an 8' wood box. I've read that the Emotiva have great off axis sound. Will the C2 sitting 8" off the ground, but angled up towards the listening position at the first row still provide incredible sound from the C2?

With the current clear out price of the T1 I would choose it over the T0, also the clear out price of the E1 is very nice, if purchasing the speakers is something you can do now and then save up for an amp purchase, something like the A-700 if the Denon is unable to handle it, I would think it would be fine unless you are trying to hit extremely loud levels, I have always found an external amplifier a benefit in my system, I can run my system at reference levels with the A-500 no problem and it sounds amazing.

I'd say buy 'em, try 'em, see if the Denon works. If not, send the speakers back, unless you fall in love with the Emos, in which case, you'll have to look for more grunt. Look around the product pages here, you'll probably see something you like. When I bought my Maggie's, I called Denon to ask if my 105wpc 2310ci could drive a 4 Ohm load. They said it would output 185wpc at 4 Ohms, but it might go into protection mode at higher volume. I never tried it. I bought an Emotiva XPA-2 and never looked back. YMMV😎 Best of luck, however you decide to go.

Don't be fooled by the presence of a subwoofer. Smaller profile speakers tend to give off a smaller vertical sized soundstage. It's not true across the board. But a bigger speaker can provide bigger sound. Also if you are looking for robust amplification especially at reasonably loud volume levels look at power amps.

5 There will be some compromise in the sound quality. It's going to sound like it's coming from "down there". You may have floor bounce. But it'll still sound nice. But ideally, I'd stick it at the height of the tv.

But ideally, I'd stick it at the height of the tv. My Def Tech LCR 3000 does not sound like it's coming from down there. Mine is about centered between the bottom of the TV and the floor. Just guessing, about 9 inches from the floor to the bottom of the speaker, and about 9 inches from the top of the speaker to the bottom of the TV. In this location the sound is spectacular. Much better than when I had it sitting on top of my old CRT monster box TV. And that was angled down. As mine is right now, its not angled up, just straight out. I would argue with anyone that says they can tell the sound is coming from down there. And, I even have a coffee table in the way. Of course, my room, my speakers, my my my. YMMV. Note: Proper TV height is the most important thing IMO. Putting the center channel at ear height and then putting the TV above that is, well, to put it nicely, wrong, IMO. Better to have the TV at the right spot and put the center channel below it. Proper TV height is somewhere in the neighbor hood of 0 degrees to oh, about 5 to 10 degrees up from the viewing angle, to the center of the TV screen.

My def tech 3000 also sits below my tv, I do have it slightly angled upward towards my ears in primary sitting position. Sounds fine, far from “down there”.

There's nothing wrong with it sitting below the tv. That would be likely how I would do it. That's a bit of a way from 8 inches off the floor.

I didn't measure it precisely, but that's about it. BUT, I do have something a bit different. With the LCR 3000 speaker, there is a powered woofer on top. To allow the woofer to "breath" I lowered the speaker so there was room above it. This also minimizes the cabinet issues resulting from putting the speaker is such an enclosure (another topic for another thread, but my sides are actually perfed steel so its not completely enclosed). So my speaker is lower than many folks might need, especially if the TV is wall mounted (which I decided against for other reasons I've discussed before.

Hard to find one that the def tech 3000 fits in. Info please, if you don’t mind. Thanks.

Hard to find one that the def tech 3000 fits in. Info please, if you don’t mind. Thanks. Thanks! Quick answer is I made it myself, mostly. I liked how Salamander racks worked, but they weren't deep enough for the big Emo amps, and they only make the TV stand in 2, 3 & 4 wide, not 3-1/2 wide required for the LCR 3000. So I made the TV stand, the audio rack, and the DVD/Bluray case to match. 80/20 extrusions & L-brackets, hardware from McMaster-Carr, casters from Amazon, door hinges from Salmander, wood from my local guy, perfed steel sourced locally and painted by my nephew, and a few things made by me where I work. If doing all that interests you, let me know and I could gather some information for you. Won't be for at least several weeks though. Here's some close ups so you can see the shelves and the hardware.
