I have a Mini-X and was just wondering if there was any difference between it and the current A-100.
Thinking of getting a A-100 to use with a Carver HR-752 receiver that has a right channel that is not working. It has pre-outs.

Only the bas-x a-100 has a headphone output on its front. And imo that's the difference. If you engage the internal jumpers it becoems a very powerful headphone amp for very specific headphones.

So, I’m not sure what Gen mine is. The Mini-x never had a headphone output jack on front. If it has a headphone output you have the Bas-x A-100 and it says bas-x on the bottom right front. Here is the basx front (note headphone output)  If you have a minix it says minix on the bottom right front. If you bought it second hand, it's possible it was modified specially by the previous owner. Here is the minix front (no headphone output)  |

My bad. You are absolutely right. I have the one without the headphone output.
Just looked at it again.
Not sure why I was thinking it had a headphone output.

Some were modified to run a headphone output, either by installing an actual jack in the front or wiring up a 1/4" jack off the binding posts.

Another difference is that the A-100 does not have a hole on the volume knob like the mini-x has that allows one to visually see the volume level. While minor, I do miss that feature. I am not sure what their reasoning was for removing it.

Yes totally poor move IMO, I see the price just went up $20 yayyyy tariffs lol glad I just purchased my two within the past 3 weeks, I was not aware the price was jumping up on the A-100. Chad |
