Hi all,
I just bought a TA-100 to control an A-300 I bought last summer. Since I normally stream music from my phone to an Apple Air, I usually set the volume high on the preamp and control volume from the phone. I set the volume to 72/80 on the preamp and everything worked great for the first day. The next day, I was getting a rapid (4-5 clicks a second) clicking sound coming through the stereo, When I dropped the volume below about 67/80 on the preamp, the clicking sound went away. When I bring it back up, it comes back. Any ideas on what may be causing this?
For now I'm keeping it at 65/80 and that's fine for 95% of my music, but some music is recorded at a lower level and to play at the levels I want in a big (1000 sqft) room, I really could use that extra volume from the preamp.
Thanks in advance! Steve

I was hoping that things would kind of fix themselves after a break in period but it still clicks on high volume. Going to have to disconnect it, put it in the closet, and use my old receiver as a pre-amp. Disappointed.

It sounds like you’re settings are driving the amp into protection mode. Bill

No it's definitely the pre-amp stage of the TA-100. No clicking with another pre-amp. The noise is being introduced by the pre-amp stage of the TA-100. I contacted Emotiva and sent it back for warranty repair.
