Attachment DeletedWould you please create this amp? XPA-DR2-Vu , Do you think this would be a future possibility for your 2 channel amplifiers? Old is new again. There are very few manufacturers that have this on usually their top end amplifiers. A quick google search shows there are audiophiles that actually look for this visual feature....Please make one, I will order yesterday!! Anyone else want one? (please put blue LED's in to light up the meters) FF

But what do I know.....people go ga ga for shiny tubes, so why not VU ‘s?? My Sunfire has a backwards meter! That means when the amp. triggers ON, the meter goes all the way over, indicating full power. Supposedly, when you start reaching the amplifier limits, it starts dropping. I have never seen it move down (17 years and counting) My bridged Carver monoblocks had red led power meters. Those leds worked well enough to give you some indication of where you were at when cranking it. . Bill

I think they look cool but I would not make a decision based on whether an amp has meters or not. All else equal and the price premium not too bad then okay.

They already did, and stopped. emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/18724These old units looks SO MUCH BETTER to me than any of the current offerings. All black is so boring and plain. These look classy. Gen 1 XPA amps, and the Gen 1 XSP-1 looks so much better than Gen 2 or the way they look now. When I first saw Emotiva in Sound & Vision I thought they looked awesome, and had to cost an arm and a leg. Now when I see their advertisements I think "blah", and they would never attract me to the brand if I were a newbie. JMO.

I am new to the Emotiva lineup. That amp with VU meters looks gorgeous. I know it's not for everyone, but it is for me. Whether they are accurate or not should be addressed at the engineering level. To be completely honest, I am going to investigate that older model with meters, check reviews and see what they are worth....Anyone have one or holding?

Not only did he post after I posted the pics, but I agree with him. It's easily the best looking Emotiva amp I've seen.

Yes, the first picture i created to see roughly what it would look like. "Bonzo" posted an actual model that was sold, the RPA-1, which I think is stunning.

I guess I’m a bore, but I couldn’t care less about what an amplifier LOOKS 👀 like....a plain black box works for me. I’m interested only in what’s under the “hood”.
Anybody here remember when tubes were in that box because they HAD to be (no solid state) with a vented cover instead of exposed glass to gawk at and polish? 🤣😂😅🤣😂😅!

Bill I believe you have posted about how you love the "look" of your speakers (and sound). Yes? No? Aesthetics can be important.

I have Gen 1 amps, a Gen 1 XSP-1 and an XMC-1 all have black Gen 2 trim which is my favorite Emotiva look.

I used to have a McIntosh and loved the blue meters, but its not something I miss. In a perfect world my amplifiers would have equal aesthetics and performance and would be modestly priced. I love my Emotiva amps performance, and I don't find them unappealing. My wife hated the look of my Mac, but loves the look of my Emotivas. She found the Mac meters ugly and distracting, and says the Emotivas are perfect in their simplicity of design and clean appearance. Me? I'm neutral on the appearance. Amplifiers I do love the appearance of are Pass Labs, but I doubt I could ever afford or justify the expense. I'm sure there is a heck of a cost to the design and manufacture of their amps. I'll take performance any day over aesthetics and with Emotiva I feel I get the performance in a nice package that looks good in the rack.

Don’t really care if it was fluorescent orange. The neatness of wires in that room ! Yes

Why would I want a disguised lying pair of voltmeters on my amp? It's as crude as having a color organ as part of your speakers.

I did that poll about it, which got a lot of feedback for this forum. It basically boiled down to about 70 to 75% preferred all black, while 25 - 30% liked the silver / black look. What is interesting is just how passionately people feel about it. I know because I am strongly in the silver / black camp.

It's easily the best looking Emotiva amp I've seen. And one of the best sounding ones IMHO. They should revive the topology in a future model.

VU meters are important and have their place - on recording or sound mixing devices. That's where they belong. On amps, no thank you.

Looks fine, but I don't sit and stare at my gear. I'm either watching video content or reading LP credits/viewing artwork.
