As a recent Tidal subscriber, I can boldly claim that my music collection has over 45 million tracks! I've made it a point to find new (to me) songs and artists that catch my fancy. Below, you'll see a few of my recent "discoveries". What have you folks found?

Pandora is the way to “discovery” for me (not the end all by any means no not at all). The folks at Pandora do a nice job of compiling similar artists, so YOU can broaden your own interests within a particular genre. The reason I prefer it over a Spotify type service is exactly that. I like being surprised without the exact piece of music coming out on command.

I've been very impressed with the Apple Music recommendations. It's what made me subscribe when the 3 month free trial was over.
White Denim Rayland Baxter Finger Eleven DJ Shadow Gleaming Spires Royal Blood
Many, many more. The "For You" tab in Apple Music has become what the radio and MTV were when I was a kid.

If you want to listed to some 70's pop or old school rap they've got channels for that. If you want to listen to chamber music or bluegrass, they've got channels for that too. While their 320Kbps tracks sound great for casual listening, their 15 million track library is a bit limited IMO. With Tidal, I'm finding it hard to find a starting point for discovery, but it's hard to ignore the CD or better sound quality. They do have "channels", but they seem to be to broad in scope.

There is one thing I have noticed about Pandora, do not use the Thumbs Up selection, only use Thumbs Down. If you use the Thumbs Up selection, you will find your stations or genres become repetitive with the same songs and artists, Pandora sort of stops introducing different artists and songs.

in Roon with both Tidal and Qobuz... New discoveries are just too numerous to list here : I wouldn't know where to begin. I just allow Roon radio to lead the way, after I have played any of my favorite albums or artists. It is like looking for beautiful seashells on the beach... How many can you discover each day, on each visit?

I agree, I have Roon with tidal. Roon radio search’s and plays similar tracks of the last song you tell it to play. It uses your own library as well as tidal’s library. It does an impressive job and I am constantly finding new artists to listen to.

Tidal does this without Roon, too.

Tidal + Roon Radio have been amazing for me. Most recent editions include Otis Gibbs, Cale Tyson, and an ancient Hall & Oates album, "The Philadelphia Years"

Steve I like your take on the thumbs up 👍 button and will give that a shot! Repetition between “stations” is an issue for sure. I give Pandora 4.99 a month for the entry level commercial free service, which was the only available option when I started paying them. The latest update to the Pandora App. seems to have refreshed the song lineups, particularly with the stations available for offline listening. Bill

How do you manage to stay alive listening to that...🤔

Have used both and there is no comparison. Roon's algorithm is much better. Tidal does not include your locally stored music and many of the same songs are always played. Tidal does this without Roon, too.

I rarely play locally stored music any longer (so much to discover!), and I haven't noticed repetition.
I listen almost exclusively to jazz; so much no longer available on cd.
