I upgraded my Preamp from the PT-100 to the XSP-1 g1
My Amp is an XPA-2 g3, going to Klipsch RF-62 ii towers, with a Rega P2 TT (Nagaoka 110 cartridge) as the input.
My initial impression is just Wow. As soon as the needle dropped there was a noticable difference between the two components- Slightly brighter treble and better bass. There's a greater "dimension" to the music- Or maybe the word is presence.
I think this preamp was made for vinyl. I have an Emo CD-100 as well, but haven't played any CDs yet.
I'm curious to play a Peter Frampton (Comes Alive) CD that was one of the remasters produced in the late 90s. It didn't seem to sound very good through the PT-100 and I wonder if it will have that great sound I remember when I first played it through a terrific Kenwood preamp and amp setup I once owned (Kenwood Basics components). I'll give it a spin over the weekend.
I've lost the ability to send digital inputs ( like PT-100 has), but I have a very good Bluetooth adapter I can run into the RCA inputs. It will do in the meantime for streaming Tidal from my laptop or phone.
But in all serious I've been streaming very little since getting a TT a couple of months ago. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against streaming digital sources, but I've been having so much fun spinning all of my old LPs again, it's hard to do anything else.

Hey david, yes the XSP-1 is a great preamp, I've owned a few and to my ears the XMC-1 sounds as good so I consolidated to the XMC-1 a few years back which was my first XMC-1 haha, I just grabbed a Modi 2 USB DAC on Amazon for $59 US which is an absolute steal, Schiit also has some on their site as closeout items, Modi 2 $59 and Modi 2 Uber in black for $69 which has USB, Toslink and Coax. Glad to hear your enjoyment level just went up a notch, I love that experience Chad

If the Modi 2 is still available I'd probably give it a try. I guess the modi 3 replaced the 2?

Yeah the newest one is the Modi 3 for $99 is also a bargain, the Modi 2 uber is $69 so a few bucks cheaper, IMO either will be much better than Bluetooth.
