THIS FIRMWARE IS *ONLY* FOR XMC-1 UNITS WITH THE HDMI 2.0b BOARD (the "V3 HDMI BOARD")
THIS IS XMC-1 FIRMWARE v5.8
WE HAVE DISCOVERED A VERY SPECIFIC BUT IMPORTANT BUG IN XMC-1 FIRMWARE RELEASE v5.7 AND SOME EARLIER VERSIONS .
IF YOUR XMC-1 HAS OLDER FIRMWARE ON IT YOU SHOULD UPGRADE TO FIRMWARE v5.8 *IMMEDIATELY* .
IF YOUR XMC-1 NORMALLY REMAINS ON, OR IN HIGH-POWER STANDBY, AND IS CONFIGURED AS A 2.x SYSTEM, WE RECOMMEND INSTALLING THIS UPDATE BEFORE REBOOTING YOUR XMC-1.
The bug we discovered ONLY affects people whose XMC-1 is running certain older firmware versions and is configured as a 2.x channel system.
(This bug DOES NOT affect your XMC-1 if it is configured as a 5.x or 7.x channel system.)
If your XMC-1 is running certain old firmware versions, is configured as a 2.x system, and you reboot it, or it loses power, it may fail to restart properly.
If this happen, your XMC-1 will have to come back to the factory to be re-flashed.

(Be sure to place this file in the main folder of your USB stick after deleting or removing any older firmware versions from that folder.)

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING NOTES CAREFULLY!!!:
1)
THIS FIRMWARE UPDATE WILL ONLY WORK WITH XMC-1 UNITS WITH THE NEW HDMI 2.0b (v3) CARD AND FIRMWARE v5.xx .
IF YOU ATTEMPT TO INSTALL THIS UPDATE ON AN XMC-1 WITH v4.1 OR OLDER FIRMWARE ON IT YOUR XMC-1 WILL PROBABLY STOP WORKING.

IF YOUR XMC-1 CURRENTLY HAS FIRMWARE OLDER THAN v5.4 THEN IT MAY FAIL TO RECOGNIZE THIS FILE (and report "NO UPDATE FILE")
IF THIS HAPPENS, PLEASE TRY RENAMING THE UPDATE FILE SO THE NAME STARTS WITH "XMCupdate"
(CHANGE THE NAME FROM " EmotivaUpdate-1_3-2-2019_05_28.dat " to " XMCupdate-1_3-2-2019_05_28.dat " )
(The update procedure requires a special version of the firmware updater that is able to install the new firmware while the original HDMI board is still installed.
If you are installing the HDMI 2.0b Upgrade board at home, YOU MUST USE THE SPECIAL UPGRADE FIRMWARE TO INSTALL THE BOARD;
feel free to upgrade to this version later.)
- This is a recommended upgrade that fixes several issues.
- This firmware updates or improves several CEC-related issues.
UPDATE NOTES:
1)
The download itself may arrive as a ZIP archive (depending on your browser), so you will need to download the ZIP archive, then extract the file inside.
The file you want is named: EmotivaUpdate-1_3-2-2019_05_28.dat
To install this update simply place the update file in the main folder of a USB stick and do a SETUP | ADVANCED | FIRMWARE UPDATE.
You should also ensure that this is the ONLY FILE in the main folder of your USB stick.
(If you wish to archive other versions of the XMC-1 firmware on your USB stick - BE SURE TO PUT THEM IN A SUB FOLDER.)

*** IMPORTANT ***
AFTER THIS FIRMWARE UPDATE IS PERFORMED WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU RESET ALL THE HDMI DEVICES YOU HAVE CONNECTED TO THE XMC-1.
TO DO THIS YOU MUST PHYSICALLY UNPLUG THE AC POWER ON THE XMC-1, YOUR TV, AND ANY OTHER HDMI DEVICES YOU HAVE CONNECTED TO YOUR XMC-1.
Everything must be unplugged AT THE SAME TIME for at least ten seconds.
It is NOT sufficient to simply place your devices in Standby, many devices cannot be turned fully off, and many devices cannot be rebooted without unplugging them.
It is not sufficient to unplug your devices one at a time.
You must unplug them all, so they are all unplugged at the same time, count to ten slowly, then plug them all back in.
This will ensure that all of your devices go through a full reboot.
(We no longer REQUIRE this but, if you have ANY problems, then you should do it.)
3)
THIS FILE ALSO CONTAINS A SEPARATE BETA FIRMWARE UPDATE FOR THE RMC-1.
YOUR XMC-1 WILL AUTOMATICALLY SELECT AND INSTALL THE FIRMWARE THAT APPLIES TO IT.
WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT THIS FIRMWARE VERSION BE INSTALLED ON AN RMC-1 UNLESS YOU ARE AN RMC-1 BETA TESTER.
4)
NEITHER THIS FIRMWARE UPDATE NOR THE BUG IT FIXES APPLIES TO XMC-1 UNITS WITH THE ORIGINAL HDMI 1.4b HDMI BOARD INSTALLED.
