I just watched an XPR-5 sell for $3,800 on eBay where the seller canceled his sale because another eBay member messaged him offering to pay $4,000 ,two weeks b for that I watched a pair of XPR-1s listed with a $3,000 starting bid and a $3,600 Buy it now ,the Monoblocks ended up selling for $4 grand and change , seeing that made me feel real good about leaving McIntosh amplifiers for the XPR reference line ,sadly I just heard on Audiogon that Emotiva is refusing to repair an Emotiva owners XPR-1s & he's resorted to posting threads asking techs for help,I certainly hope this is not true & will be posting a thread dedicated to getting to the bottom of this very serious issue . I’ll be a monkey’s uncle if those alleged XPR sales completed at those prices. SMH Yes sir, I was watching the XPR amps in my Ebay as well. I am astounded by the money they draw. Insane

Insane Look at completed EBay items, Tim. You won’t find those sales. $3K+ for an XPR-5? Bull crap. $4K for a pair of -1s. Allegedly sold locally, to a user with feedback rating 0. Smells fishy. It took me months to unload mine for $3K, also on EBay, shipped. These amps are ticking time bombs. Those that own them, I hope they hold out for you. If you’re nervous about it, unload them before some random day you become the owner of a 100 pound paperweight and Emotiva tells you “Sorry”, with the warranty period up.

If Emotiva wants a long term renowned reputation as a company to do business with they surly will continue to repair their best offerings to the public.mThis service would include their balanced gear! The XPR series are their TOTL amps and should be represented as such many many years from now. How can you build a great reputation if you don’t offer service to your gear a decade later? Emotiva’s warranty may be only 5 years for their TOTL gear but service and repair is another story. So, does Emotiva want a reputation as a leader or also ran? I pray its a leader otherwise I may have to rethink future purchases a little harder!

There very well could be truth to that, that the XPR never legitimately sold. I was just following them in My Ebay and saw the final tallies. Crazy, but great for us if it happened. I see now an XPR-5 just listed for $3800 or best....lol

Hey, inquiring minds want to know . Maybe I'd be better off buying the cheaper BasX stuff & if it craps the bed after a few years I won't lose sleep over it......hmmmm.

I'm not going to get into an argument about this. Bryston's amps are very nice... and so is their 20 year warranty.
However, just to inject a little perspective into the discussion... The Emotiva XPA-DR2 lists for $1699 . The Bryston 4B3, which is their equivalent model, lists for $6700 .
(Personally, I can think of a few other ways to spend the $5k difference.)
I had an XPR-1 that died under warranty. Getting it fixed was a PITA, got rid of them and got Bryston monos, the best decision ever made. That is my next step as well. Little by little I will be switching over to Bryston.

The reason the XPR-1 and 5 are selling for higher than MSRP is simple ,name the manufacturer & model number of a 1,000/1,750 watt monoblock in the class A/B topology for under $9,000 used ,in the new catagory show a 5 channel amp with the XPR-5 build that pushes 600 watts to 5 channels at Any price ,they don't exist .

Man oh man does that sound bad for me,I already own 4 McIntosh 1,200 watt Mc-1201s so I'm not gonna be screwed for lack of extreme wattage should Emotiva refuse to service the XPR-1s and 2s,it's an unmatched system issue with me,I bought the RSP-1 and RSP-2 preamps,I bought the XDA-1 and 2 along with the ERC-1 and 2,I've bought 7 of the EMX-2 and 3 of the EMX-7 units ,I have 2 pair of McIntosh line arrays triamped using 6 pairs of X series speaker cables ,all amps & sources connected using Emotiva XLR's,in both systems I'm running over 30 X series power cords ,I even bought Emotivas XLR splitters just to own them ,when I went with Emotiva it was a major decision in my life ,when I chose a manufacturers amps to build a system around I'm 110% all in with that manufacturer ,I waited 18 months on the promised Emotiva/Bob Carver tube gear line,I've invested years building 2 massive systems based on Emotivas amps and customer service ,money isn't the issue either,I wanted to get away from the ubber high end amp manufacturers like McIntosh & Krell I have a ton of because of dealer mark ups as high as 60% so I chose a manufacturers direct USA based company ,I wouldn't care if it took Emotivas service dept 2 months to repair my amps as long as Emotiva repaired them in house because I LOVE the amps,I'm depressed seriously. McIntosh amps will not drive the 2 pair of 4 ohm McIntosh XRT-28 & 29 line arrays with the same slam as my XPR's ,the only amps that will drive my 85 db line arrays aside from the XPR's are the Krell FPB-750's & I gave them to my son last year, nothing in Emotivas current line will drive my speakers ,I sure hope somebody from Emotiva chimes in & honors to repair the XPR line . The sound of the xpr’s is amazig dont get me wrong, its more the lifespan. I got 2 cd players, one preamp, one amp and recently my airmotiv5(out of warranty) go bad. Never had a problem with schiit products (for some reason they look more reliable) I've never had a problem with any of my McIntosh gear either & they service every piece of gear they've made since 1949,it took alot for me to leave McIntosh for Emotiva, what did it was how much Emotiva owners raved about quality & customer service over at Audioholics ,if Emotiva truly is refusing to service the best amps in their history it dosent send a message of confidence for those looking to buy state of the art pre/pro's. I don't see how Emotiva can just stop repairing the most expensive amps they ever made ,if Emotiva did decide to stop repairing the XPR line it makes a massive statement to the audio community that Emotiva gear is now disposable electronics like what best buy sells & I hope that isn't the case,if nobody from Emotiva addresses this in the threads I'll have to call & speak with Emotivas service dept,if they truly are no longer servicing the XPRs then I'm selling off my XPR-1s and 2s while they are still rare as hens teeth, the 1s and 5s are getting above MSRP but I'd rather hear that they are gonna support the XPR line,if it's supported I can grab the XPR-5 listed on eBay now so I could have the complete XPR line,I so bad don't want to be forced into selling off my Emo gear.

One glaring issue is that we all know that Tone Winner built or at least supplied Emotiva with it's amps through the Gen 2 models. Gen 3 has seen the move to amp modules that are manufactured by someone (don't know who) and final assembled here in the US. Seeing that Tone Winner now sells it's own branded amps here in North America through Summit HiFi....who used to be an authorized retail partner of Emotiva shows where the conflict would come in. I honestly don't picture ToneWinner continuing to market repair or replacement parts to Emotiva when they are actually now in direct competition with them for sales. When I traded emails with the ToneWinner salesman at Summit, he related back that the observations were partially correct but would not go into detail unless I called him directly. I was not about to do so because I have nothing on my list of wants from ToneWinner at this moment and really didn't want to be hounded by a salesman about a potential sale or follow up. You can go to www.summithifi.com/collections/tonewinner-audio to easily see the similarities in products, especially on the rear panels ...they are identical in some cases. My guesstimate is that this ToneWinner CD player will be a nearly identical ERC-4 when it comes out. Hence the now center loading tray. www.summithifi.com/products/ty-20-cd-player

That’s exactly what I did. There’s no -5 sale showing. The -1 sale as I said was to a 0 feedback “local” buyer , which I doubt the sale truly took place, unless possibly he was the local courier for a Nigerian Prince. Asking prices for unsold items mean nothing. Good luck.

That's sad that Gene would hide that fact from Audioholics reviews ,I haven't visited the site very often once members Wmax and Mulester7 passed away so if Gene told the membership his XPR-1 blew up on him I missed it ,back then it wasn't just Gene raving about Emotiva, the membership who for the most part hate anything high end also raved about all Emotiva gear ,which I own a ton of and must confess has performed flawlessly over a decade ,knock on wood .
