Hi everyone!!!
I'm in the processs of renovating my living room, and the sub placement is an issue right now.. where I need some input. Basically, I will have to order all the furniture in advance, so I won't be able to do the sub crawl.. and will be basically guessing...
This is a drawing the architect made, obviously there will be no sound bar ! My idea was to make a space below the left side of the TV , and place the sub right there, between shelves at the sides for LPs and for the receiver/DVD/PS4/tv box. The thing is that in that scenario the sub will be mostly "enclosed" in a cabinet (not on the front, but on all other sides) .I can leave some additional space on the sides to let it breathe a bit more, and some at the back but not much really. Also since this will be custom made, I can probably ask them to leave some kind of vent on the upper shelf on the rear, but I don't know if it's worth it.
This would be the most pleasing way of placing it, with the greatest WAF... but not sure if it will sound good.
Before this furniture I had it basically in that spot and sounded fine, but it was alone, not enclosed in anything.
By the way, the sub is a Basx S12 and the speakers Monitor Audio Bronze 2, connected to an Emotiva TA-100 receiver (no room correction, or DSP) , plus a CD/DVD player, turntable and TV.
Can you help me with your opinion on where it might sound best (at least probably) ? Another option would be , looking at the floor plan, at the right of the "vertical" couch, in a sort of corner, but I feel it might sound boomy, and that's not what I want. I mean, the S12 is more than loud enough by itself for this space I have it dialed at about 30/40% it's power, I don't need any reinforcement from the room.
Well... any ideas will be appreciated !!!
