Superb manufacture, the transport engine is perfectly silent, the buttons on the front are very responsive like those on the remote control! The sound is much better than on an Oppo 203, it's another world Very satisfied with my purchase especially that it is the first one distributed in France No particular problem it works perfectly well Thank you Emotiva

Okay time for some trivial but honest questions.
- How fast is the tray?
- How long does it take for the CD to start playing from the time you hit play (with the tray open)?
- When you hit the open button while the CD is playing, how long does it take for the player to stop and the tray to reach full extension?

Forgot one, how about dimming the lights? How many settings are there?

Forgot one, how about dimming the lights? How many settings are there? There are 3 different lights + one off (only the buttons are very very lightly lit)

Good. Thanks.

There are 3 different lights + one off (only the buttons are very very lightly lit) How are you hooking up your cd player to your equipment? I would guess with the XLR/RCA analog outputs since the digital outputs would be limiting the ERC-4 as just a transport, hence the sound comparison with the Oppo UDP-203.

Nice! They moved the drive back in to the center! Center is way better I agree. BUT, I still say ergonomics are wrong, BUT, it is a nice looking piece. They seem to be too worried about matchy matchy with looks. The power button is "UNDER" the loading tray? So you can't power it off unless you "close" it first? A big Looks good with other Emotiva stuff, but completely idiotically placed ergonomically speaking. As is with most other companies, who realize most people are right handed, the main control buttons are on, you guessed it, the right side. Not so with Emotiva. Lonnie must be left handed. Sorry guys, its still backwards. Flip the front panel around and it would be MUCH better. The back spread is AWESOME. A perfect 10.

You haven't got a left hand then, real sorry about that, was it a accident?

😁
I get many people don't care about ergonomics. I do. If there were such a designation, I'd be a professional. 😉
Really.

I agree about the ergonomics and maybe when they release the next ERC-? with corrected button placement it will also decode HDCD disc like the ERC-3 did.
