Hey Folks,
Im currently running my UMC-200 with 2.1 setup in the living room running a dedicated 18" sub for LFE during movies. I wanted to add room correction and was thinking about a Minidsp 2x4 which accepts a L/R input and then can split it with 4 outputs and Dirac room correct it... So effectively I would feed full range L/R and then output it as 2.1 again using three Minidisp outputs.
My question is will the UMC-200 still run LFE through a full range 2 channel or does it require the dedicated subwoofer channel to be in effect? I know on movies the LFE is mixed very different and much louder specifically for the "effect" part.

LFE is mixed by the movie sound mixer into the LFE channel and as long as there is an LFE channel active then all of the LFE will come out of the LFE channel. If there is no LFE channel active then the LFE will be mixed into the other channels by the processor. The UMC-200 has pretty good correction capabilities, using REW I was always able to get a good result. So I would suggest retaining the original LFE mix and using REW to correct any acoustic issues. If you disable the LFE channel then you lose the movie sound mixers mix.
Cheers Gary

Why do you want to do that? The UMC-200 can work as a crossover for your use case with small speakers and the sub. The PEQ of the UMC-200 is indeed very useful - start with that.

Indeed, and the UMC-200 is one of the target devices built in to REW. It seems to me the MiniDSP is redundant in this application.
